Year-end transaction processing schedule

December 24
— Because Friday, December 24 is a federal holiday, the TSP will be closed. Transactions that would have been processed Friday night (December 24) will be processed Monday night (December 27) at Monday’s closing share prices.

December 29 — Withdrawals processed through December 29 will be disbursed and reported to the IRS as income for 2021.

December 30 — Withdrawals processed on December 30 will be reported to the IRS as income for 2022. The payments (checks and direct deposits) are expected to be issued on January 3, 2022.

December 31 — Withdrawals processed on December 31 will be reported to the IRS as income for 2022. The payments (checks and direct deposits) are expected to be issued on January 4, 2022.

There's no indication on their website, or on the above info they emailed out, that the TSP is closed on Friday, yet dreamboatannie says she called and they said they are closed. Not good.

I decided to call the TSP as well and the woman told that they are closed, but when I pointed out that there is no indication of that on the website, she looked and said, "You're right, that's odd."

Perhaps most of their employees are off so they are just assuming that they are not processing transactions?

I'm as confused as ever. This is a big screw up on their part since the first trading day of the new year could be a big one (up or down), and we don't know for sure if we can move money tomorrow or not.

Has anybody tried an IFT after 12 noon ET today? I'm curious if they gave a transaction date.

The stock market has NYSE rule 7.2, which says when a holiday falls on a Saturday, the market will close on the preceding Friday -- unless, "unusual business conditions exist, such as the ending of a monthly or yearly accounting period."

So maybe, complete speculation on my part, the TSP has a similar rule and will process electronic transactions, but because many of the employees are off and won't be available for customer service, they assume it is closed? Again, I'm not sure.

I just tried to enter an IFT on tsp.gov as a test and this is what came up...

Please correct the following error(s):
  1. Because you have already executed two interfund transfers this month, you are eligible to transfer your money from the F, C, S, I and L Funds only to the G Fund. You cannot transfer among the other funds until after noon eastern time on the last business day of this month. Click here for more information. If you would like to make an IFT request into the G Fund, please re-enter your request.

So the TSP is processing transactions today as a December IFT!!

I can't log in "secure.tsp.gov’s DNS address could not be found. Diagnosing the problem." error
Hopefully they are updating site over weekend
