A great grill item thats bound to please.

Items needed: a grill, some shrimp tails on, good bacon.

Depending on the size of the group thaw shrimp. Tear bacon in ribbons.
Start wraping Shimp with bacon. Tie a hitch knot where the tail meets the flesh and rip it off.
Throw it on the grill when the bacon is done the shrimp is done.

When I make these everyone seems to gather around the grill with a beer in thier hand.
They rarely make it to the table.:)

Now Yer talkin' the eggs really make a difference, the old way is the best way unless you like Ice Milk.
I so agree! The next time I make ice cream I'll invite the whole gang over. But I get to lick the dasher. I heard that, Buster!

I have a hand crank ice cream mixer. But I have an electric motor one too. Guess which one we use at family parties! But it still looks basically the same. Set it in a metal dish pan. Area around the outside to keep putting ice and rock salt in. Keep moving a pencil back and forth in the drain hole to make sure it stays running free.

And a mix that calls for heavy cream and eggs. I cook the mix just to 140-145 degrees to kill any salmonella that might be in the eggs. Makes a rich ice cream with a high butter fat content. Yummy!

That reminds me, I have an Ice Cream Maker and haven't used it for years, I think I'll bread it out, it's electric. When I was a kid they were hand crank and I'll tell you what, they would wear you out!:)

My wife makes fresh mayonnaise for some special dishes, I like the Garlic one best!! :toung:

Nobody puts eggs in their ice cream any more!! I eat mine sunny side up and haven't been poisoned yet.:)

Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

By: DARRYN_BRIGGS
"This is a GREAT mint chocolate chip ice cream that I discovered by accident. The 2% milk makes the ice cream taste 'lighter' I think."

Servings
Original Recipe Yield 2 quarts

Ingredients
(My notes)

  • 2 cups 2% milk (I use 2 cups nonfat milk)
  • 2 cups heavy cream (I use 1 Cup Whipping Cream & 1 Cup 1/2 & 1/2)
  • 1 cup sugar (I use in between 3/4 C & 1 C)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (I like just a hint of salt flavor, so I add enough for a just-slightly-rounded 1/2 t)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure, not artificial)
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 3 drops green food coloring (optional) (nada)
  • 1 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
Directions

  1. In a large bowl, stir together the milk, cream, sugar, salt, vanilla extract and peppermint extract until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Color to your liking with the green food coloring.
  3. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker, and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  4. After about 10 minutes into the freezing, add the chocolate chips.
After the ice cream has thickened, about 30 minutes later, spoon into a container, and freeze for 2 hours.
  5. My additional steps:
I super-chill all ingredients, including mixing bowl.
I whip the whipping cream, sugar, salt & extracts to just enough to start to gain air volume,
then add 1/2 & 1/2, continue to whip until a little frothy.
I stir in additional milk, then pour into ice cream maker.
  6. Stir every 2-3 minutes until starting to firm as above, then follow the rest of step 2.
Nothing Better!! Enjoy!
