Strange happenings in the sky

Almost Veteran's Day. Almost. Next weekend. Friday to be exact so as a 4-10 worker I get Thursday off. Honor all veterans. Unlike Memorial Day. Yeah, I go on about that every year at the end of May.

Why the post a week early? Strange things in the sky here today. Reciprocating engines roaring and unidentifiable old aircraft. All too far away to see details. Where are the binoculars? Not sure since the last vacation.

First a couple of lone low wingers. One looked to have crooked wings. Anhedral? (you aircraft types have a ball) Like a Corsair. One had straight wings. Had the look but not quite the right sound for a P-38/40. Then a flight of four high wingers, maybe one a biplane. Trying to keep a formation. One was having a lot of trouble.

Then a flashback sound of multiple two blade rotary wings. Engine sounds not quite right from memories. Three rotary wing aircraft come in to view. Looked like Iroquois. Didn't sound right. Might have been Ns with two engines? Unmistakable profile. Proving that I am totally brainwashed by Hollywood and popular media, I could hear the Ride of the Valkyries as they flew past. "Put on pschy-war operations, make it loud. Shall we dance ?" No offense meant to those who actually did SEA tours.

Doing yard work slowly all day. Picked up tree debris from last nights storm, cleaned out pool, replaced defective pop up cleaner in pool, upgraded software on two computers. Pool water is cold BTW.

I go on. Everyone in the lounge has left. Bar tender is pissed. Sounds more like a face book post. "I am getting up. Took a sxxt. brushed my teeth."

Enjoy the weekend.
