... That's PDG (Pretty Darn Good) NASA. Since you commented, I tried it; guess I'm a "top 1%-er" on this (wish I was on my estate-wealth) as I didn't miss any ?s. SS can be pretty tricky.

-- I learned most through a number of FED-agency and Union-sponsored Fed-Retirement Seminars and SSA-provided ones too. I retired with 38+ years Fed-Svc at age 62.33, and claimed my SS at age 63... after running some numbers and compare/contrast claiming then or at FRA - based on some fairly nominal assumptions... that showed, for me, claiming earlier paid off over the alternative FRA option within a decade or so if very modestly invested - looking out to about age 90, but assuming I live to my early-/mid- 70s at least. Anyway, my professional estate-consultant ran numbers for me & my spouse situation and was surprised to come$ up with the same recommendation. This case is strengthened by assumption that SS payments will take a 10%-to-20% cut about 2035, and that it is unlikely I'll be working with significant income before age 66 or so.
