I love the winter Olympics, mostly the sports that involve a lot of speed, but I'll watch just about any event. This time around it will get quite political and the U.S. will be one of the most guilty of that. We've forgotten the lessons learned from the Moscow and LA Olympics. I will still tune in and hopefully everyone the spirit of the games and excellent performances will be the main story.

only a month or so until the winter olympics. this may sound strange, but my whole life i've been fascinated by the biathlon and ski jumping. i wait four years just to see the best in the world compete and then it's over in a couple of weeks.

everybody read that book 'snow treasure' as a kid, right? about smuggling gold past the nazis and human courage, right? and who can forget the classic abc worldwide sports clip of that jumper flying teeth first into certain death and breaking apart end over tea kettle on the landing? that's big nuts there.

but every winter olympics i take the opportunity to reevaluate my social strategy for the coming four years and face the age old question:

tanya harding? or nancy kerrigan?

although in our new multicultural alternative lifestyle world, i suppose the question might as easily be oksana biaul or brian boitano?
I had to vote other for Gold medalist Apolo Anton Ohno, speed skater. Watching him was really exciting.

Of course also like Oksana Baiul. I can never forget the gracefulness of her skating. Just beautiful..her gold medal win in 1994 was a great skate..but her exhibition skate after winning gold was breathtaking...looked like a ballerina on ice, in a swan white feathery outfit. Definitely looking forward to the upcoming games!
