Sentiment Survey

It looks that way... but one must ask the question regarding how it will change the participant pool that consistently votes? Why would one participate if not a subscriber if you cannot access the information signals? And how significant of an effect will it have on the survey results if it is restricted to subscribers of the new service. Without participants, there is no survey... As the survey likely drives substantial hits on this site, a restriction may adversly affect the click count. A change may end up having the opposite effect on the revenue stream than is intended or anticipated.

It sounded to me like the non-paying public would still get the numerical results, but the premium service subscribers would get the analysis and the info on what fund it was invested in. Is that right, Tom?

I think you have to publish the numbers or people are going to wait until the last minute to vote, so they can see the results. Of course you could set it up so you don't get the numbers when you vote, but then why vote? Either way I think you have to show the numbers or you are going to change the way our SS used to work.

I agree.

I don't remember the requirements for buying and selling in a bull vs. bear market - do you?

wait, what??? pay for the survey??? geez, come on... it got me out of a big mess last year, and I screwed up on it a bit this year, but for the most part I've followed the survey, but I'm not going to pay for it. if I may be frank about it, that just plain sucks. I'm very disappointed in that decision

I am not quite clear on what is going on. Maybe there is an explanation on the site or Tom will see this and explain.

I'm with you jkenjohnson. Let's not all get our undies in a bunch for no undo reason!;) I'm sure Tom will clarify once he sees this thread.

On a lighter note, do you all remember the game we use to play in kindergarten where the teacher would sit us down on the floor in a big circle? The first child would whisper something in the ear of the person sitting next to them. The the 2nd child would do the same. And so on, and so on, until the last child had received the message. And when we got to the end, we would compare the first message to last message and all laugh hysterically ! The first message usually bore no resemblance at all to the last message. What we learned was that what is said, and what is heard, are often two entirely different things. We all filter what we hear through our own set of life's experience. That lesson has served me well!

I think it's specified on the SS thread, but I don't recall how a bull vs. bear market is defined for the SS.

Me either. I am hoping we will still get the results and whether it is a buy, sell or hold for free. I will then figure out which fund to put it in.

It has a good track record but I don't know if anyone follows its signal for every trade. Its a good tool though. I like to use my own sense (anecdotal evidence) of bullish/bearish.

I agree with you, I don't use it for every trade either, but it is doing better than me, so maybe I should.

Yes, the percentage results will still be posted. That was a promise I want to keep since it is the poll responders that make it work, and that info is valuable enough. The system signals won't and email alerts will only go out to subscribers.

I know, I know. No one wants to pay for anything. No on wants wants to click on ads. They want free stuff. Been there, done that every time we start a new service. Seems the country is heading that way so I shouldn't be surprised. But, I doubt any of you are working for free, and I can't afford to either.

This business pays my bills. I voluntarily gave up a GS 13 job to take on TSP Talk full time, which is a full time job, and to avoid being on welfare, yes, I have to charge for some services. You'd be surprised at the expenses to keep a website this size running smoothly. Let's start with $700 a month for servers. OK, that's my story and excuse.

Now, do you realize the Sentiment Survey System is up 187% since I started it in 2006. The best fund during that time? S-fund is up 82%. Just say'in.

I'll explain more about what "TSP Talk Plus" will include, and it's not just the survey signals. Is it worth a few bucks a month? That will be up to you.

I did'nt realize that you had given up a GS -13 job for the site. That was very gusty.....

Wow, that Sentiment Survey System results since 2006 are something else !

Thank you Tom for this site... It is a great resource!

Agree. If I only did follow it signal for signal. +187%. I'm not that smart. :) It's really hard to blindly follow.

Yup. When ebbchart and Trader Fred went premium, the site got really busy. I could barley keep up with Ebb making IFT's 2 or 3 times a week (before the limits). I was getting in trouble at work for being on the forum during work hours (because there were ads and I was making money). Even got suspended for a week. I had to make a decision and decided to make the move. I think I was a step 9 or 10, can't remember. My wife still works for the gov't so we still have insurance.

I think that this site is worth paying for so maybe I will subscribe to the SS, if only as a way to send Tom some money. Although, the price has to be right ;-)
