Post 9425 my thread: I don't know but last year in was a sideways consolidation. I think JTH had something about it last year. It may just be a myth as of late.It also may be when people taking off risk for summer vacation as we go into the lower volume trading period. I also think with the faster reacting computers it may have become a moot point because they can "set and forget". There will probably be some articles coming out shortly about it. It was a saying that just popped in my head while doing my last post. Adding now that I think, since people trading online now without having to be in the pit, many can trade now mornings from their vacation sites.

Not sure how the how this article relates to the TSP Funds. I know C Fund is not an alternative but does anyone know how the C Fund has performed between May-October compared to S Fund?

So based on that chart from 1999-2014
When Market was down - S&P was down harder than Dow
When market was up - S&P was generally (4 exceptions) higher than Dow
So, the question comes down to, will the market be up or down during this time frame?

Darn right back where we started!

The May-June period has the 2nd worst two month median performance for the S&P 500 since 1950. The September-October two month period is the worst. September is the worst single month by far.
