I opened 2007 as follows:

I- 52.08%
S- 33.12
C- 14.80

The recent market tumbles are tempting me to pull back on the stock funds but I haven't seen any huge losses yet. So far I've lost only a net of 603.34.

I have around 25 years before retirement so I don't think I'll panic just yet.

Re: Richmanpoorman's Account

If you are in for the "long term", and don't plan on trading your account like a lot of us around do, you should be fine.

You'll eventually make back those losses while your number of shares remain intact.

Just use this opportunity to add to your position.

Agree with Rod. Welcome to the club and good luck!

I have another 30 years before I reach MRA. (Supposing I make it that long and bird flu doesnt get me.) Plenty of time to make our millions. :)

Use this event to educate yourself on how & why markets react in these ways. If you're a new "square one" employee... DCA (Dollar Cost Average) in the I Fund is my recomendation.
Welcome to Toms Machine.

Oy vey! I lost just over 1K from 08/10/2007 to 08/13/2007. That's my largest drop EVER. Breathe. breathe, breathe...It can't get any worse than this, can it?

I've decided that since I'm not an expert on trading stocks and such that all my posts regarding my TSP account will simply contain exclamations such as "Oh no!", "Holy Crap!" "%&^&$$$!" and so forth.

Today's exclamation is: @$$$#^*(^&%!!

Have a great day!

Welcome to the MB. Just plant the money and it will grow either up or down. This is a good place to learn.

You think that's a lot of money? Just stay in for a while. I lost my entire gain in 2007 in the first three days of 2008. Enjoy the ride!!!!!:nuts:
