I am new to this website, and am sitting on the sidelines 100%G. I bailed out of the I fund before the big drop, and have yet to get in. What advice say you?

Hi Retire,

you have several options, welcome to the board btw,

in no particular order:

1. Develop your own system (sector rotation basically, based on technical indicators, fundamentals, news, intuition, etc)
2. Appropriate L fund
3. Follow someone on this board
4. Follow a service.
5. Combination of all of the above.

as for I fund or EFA, it was technically overbought but trending higher at Friday's close, the Dollar is falling and still has a little room to fall further (good for I fund), the ten year yield is at 4.99, a good bit below Fed rate of 5.25, so it may not go much lower, which means Dollar may not go much lower. Fed is now likely to pause in august. how that is going to affect the Dollar, is the question.

I pulled out of I Friday morning, leaving only 10% in as it is overbought, and have a high probability of the penny in G on monday. 70G, 10F, 10S, 10I

all a matter of how much time is worth to you

good luck

I noticed you created your account thread and entered a IFT move yesterday at 12:59 pm EDT, after the 12:00 pm EDT deadline. Perhaps you need to adjust your customer profile (CP) for your time zone. I will add you to the TSPTalk Weekly Tracker at COB today, August 4th, with 50% S and 50% I.

The two rules are:

1) Record all your IFT moves prior to 12:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) in the same member account thread. Posting a IFT move after 12:00 pm EDT will result in that move being entered into tracker for the following trading day. I do allow some leeway of minutes in recording to the tracker.

2) Post your fund allocation stance at least every three months. If you fail to post an entry in your account thread within three months, your worksheet is removed from the Weekly Tracker, and you will not be tracked.

This is not the time (IMHO) to be timid - get out the Savage 30.06 and let's go. There is plenty of game out there - but you have to participate inorder to win. Good luck.

Yea, I know. I attend alot of meetings and very rarely am I at my PC at trade time. I usually duck out and hit the nearest computer. While my profile is set, I think using other computers is the challenge for me.

This has been a constant challenge since I found this website. I am starting to feel that perhaps I should not post my trades, just watch and follow the trades of others. I will give it another try. This was strike 2, strike 3 and I will be out.

HEY MAN THIS IS ABOUT SHARING SO WE CAN ALL MAKE MONEY!!!!
If someone has offended , screw them . We are all out to make money on our accts, no one I mean no one is above it all, they all have a bad day in the market. good luck to you and yours .
My opinion only short term market is over bought , maybe for a week maybe for a month I dont know . I think I be back on the 29th into it all( I fund)probably) ref tsp tom 85% chance of a up day the next day . But it all depends, good luck

Quite Right

We are all amateurs here hoping to learn from one another. The point about timely posting has to do with the tracker which only serves as an aid. So we are interested in your decisions. Irregardless.

I saw elsewhere that you were approaching retirement, Retire, yet you were unclear on the withdrawl rules. It can be complicated. My agency offers seminars and training resources on all aspects of retirement.

Good luck!
Dave

Dave,
I am still aways from retirement about 15 years to MRA.

I plan to sit the sideline this week. I anticipate the market will struggle this week, excluding I. Will be watching the EBB tracker, and Sugars moves, let's call it............Sugar EBB Spice and everthing nice:cheesy: .
[it's going to be a down week, being cheesy should be allowed!]

Retire,

Don't worry about smallness of some... continue to let us know how you are approaching the markets. It is appreciated!

To maintain your credibilty you probably shouldn't admit to such things because in case you haven't noticied she is a raving lunatic with severe psychological eruptions coupled with delusions of granduer and a misunderstanding that she can function normally in social situations.

Sugar, or Spice?
Can someone explain this posting phenomenon to me? Is it a husband/wife combo, or a split personality? I don't care; I just want to know which voice is making all the right moves!, which voice to listen to.

Please excuse me, I am new to this board. I don't know the history, or what is going on here.....

That's part of the mystery. Isn't this fun!

50% I, 50% G, By COB 23 Aug 06.

Did my time post correctly?

"The first rule of holes: When you're in one, stop digging."

Don't know about your time posting correctly, but your account entry was by the deadline. Your IFT move will be entered into the Weekly Tracker for tonight's COB fund prices. I do allow some leeway with posts in accounts that are late by minutes.

I just made a 50/50 split on the S/I for a short term look. I noticed many of you are throwing some funds in C. It appears the S&P may be a little more over valued than the rest of the funds. What am I missing, am I off base? (Could be since I am not doing that hot this month)

Participants throwing money at the C fund - blasphemy I say. Obviously there is a .... born every minute - except for you, Retire. I've bee accused of being tendentious regarding the C fund. And IMHO you are missing it.

I am always looking to see the world from different eyes. What sector(s) of the S&P do you think will drive gains, this is the area I am struggling with. While I may be missing the boat, It is because th fog is too thick for me to see through. Any inputs would be appreciated.

Probably the financial stocks which have a weighting of 23% and then there will be additions and deletions going forward for commodity stocks which are in a secular play. Also the SPX has a 40% position in the export businesses.

Thanks, finacial and Emerging markets are two that I have not factored in. Both good sectors with some growth along what looks to be a roller coaster ride.

Re: Retirees Account

I see some folks moving out to G. Is this primarily a capital preservation move to protect earnings for the year, or do you feel we have hit the highs?

I tend to think this week will be a little up to sideways, am I off?
