There is a really good story from somebody who retired on Dec 31, right in the middle of the last shutdown, over on Govexec.com today.
The person tells about the experience, and the harm because the HR was shut down when he retired- He explains what happened, and offers some tips- like expect to be months before you get your retirement check. A good read!
