OK, the new forum software is up and running and obviously we can't catch everything eight away.

Please report any issues you find here including bad links, bad pages, or any out of whack or that doesn't look right. We'll try to handle them one by one as quickly as possible.

I still don't know my way around it either so I am learning myself.

Thank you!!

Yeah, I'm not liking that new post feature. I'm not sure exactly what it is grabbing. I've been trying to figure that out.

The "Latest Activity" link under "What's new" seems to work better, but it also unnecessarily includes likes and other interactions.

Thanks!

It looks like "new posts" means posts you haven't read. So if you post something, it won't be there.

If you want to clear that list, there is a "mark forums read" or something like that on the left side on top of the list.

But right now, "Latest Activity" link under "What's new" seems to be the best place to see all of the latest posts and activity.

Again, I may play with the settings but I guess a list of unread posts isn't a bad thing.

How do you make a simple post

How do you simply make a new post under your own account name?

Not much to report, I was able to post something, so that's good. Speed-wise things are definitively snappier on this end, the pages seem to load quickly.

I did notice I'm able to delete older post from years ago, which means if I go on a drunken rampage, I can delete anything questionable I might have said...

I don't know how to automatically sort threads from newest to oldest. In dark mode the signature font colors are difficult to see. But given the totality of this upgrade, I'm sure in the grand scheme of things this is all very minor. 💃

Can you make it so when you click on a thread it goes to the last page/newest post? I also think it makes life easier when the newest posts are at the top.

If you click the link on the far right that highlights when the last post was, it will take to the latest post.

I haven't figured out how to default them to the top yet though. I'll send you a PM if I do.

If you're looking for your Account Thread, here is the latest posts address: https://forum.tsptalk.com/threads/exnavyews-account-talk.22280/page-40#post-701065

If you wanted to start a new thread, there is an orange button at the top of other threads. For example, if you wanted to start a new thread on the economy, you would go here: https://forum.tsptalk.com/forums/the-economy.37/post-thread

So the new forum no longer works with the Tapatalk app that I use for forums I follow. Is that going to be fixed or will it no longer work with it? Thanks, Tom

I also get this message once in a while.

"This message is awaiting moderator approval, and is invisible to normal visitors."

I looked into it and it may not work with this cloud version. I haven't gotten a straight answer yet, but I was less interested in tapatalk when I saw how the forum looks on my cell as is. It looks like a mobile app. Have you tried it? But I will look into getting tapatalk working with this new software.

Ironically the permissions for the Moderators was very restrictive. I had to reset them. It should be better now.

I can't get this forum to come up on Tapatalk anymore. Shows a banner for a few seconds that says "Network error, please try again later, (get_config)". Tried removing it, adding it, and same thing... something is off here.

Unfortunately individual choice of post order is not an option with this software for some reason. I did install an add-on script that will allow it, but I didn't realize until later that it was all or nothing. We all have to see it it first to last, or last to first, it's not an individual choice.

I'm really surprised this feature isn't in this "better" forum software.

How do I make it so posts in a thread show descending chronological order, newest first?

Not sure what anyone else thinks, but I'm in the last to first camp. As it stands now, I have to click on the thread, then the last page, then scroll down to the bottom. I would make the offer of putting it to a forum vote, but if it doesn't go my way, I won't concede the loss...
