Can someone explain what it really means when I click on the TSP link for my account entitled: "View Your 12-month Personal Rate of Return"?

Mine currently shows 32.69% which sounds great to me, but I'm just wondering if it really means that for the past 12 months the return on what I've put in (my contribution + my agency match + my loan repay) has really seen a growth of 32.69%? Sounds like a simple question and that the answer should be a resounding "Yes!" ...but I've learned nothing is really as simple as it seems with this stuff!

Also curious: Does this sound like a good return to you?

Thanks for any input!

Your 12 month PRR is the percentage your account grew over the last 12 months. It does not include you monthly contributions. So from June 30, 2010 to July 1, 2011 your account grew 32.69%.

I have long wondered the same thing. Since I started TSP is seems my PRR has always been in the low/mid 20s. I haven't crunched the numbers, but this seems a bit rosey. That said, my account is new and low/mid 20s is too low to include contributions. I guess this is the power of DCAing into positions every 2 weeks.

btw 32.69 is quite nice, hats off!
