Question: Why are the numbers in this Tally different than the ones reported in Rokid's sheet?
Answer: This Tally takes into account the compounding. In this way, someone who enters the Tally in May is not at a disadvantage in the May calculation to someone who started in January. We will be comparing apples to apples. The compounding effect is greater the larger the return. The Tally leaders will notice the largest difference between their numbers on Rokid's spreadsheet and the spreadsheet I compile. Rokid's spreadsheet gives you the true percentage return for the year. My spreadsheet is for comparison purposes and thus used for the monthly prize.
If you want to know how to check the numbers for yourself, do the following. Add a column after the "my return" column in the tracker spreadsheet. Make the formula the "cell above" * (1+ "my return period[2 cells left]"). Put any starting number above the first cell above - I use 10000. This will give you the growth of an account which starts with $10000 at each trade. The calculate the percentage difference between the values of this new column at the end of any two consecutive months to get the percent gain for that month. Compare that number with the value in the yellow box (should be the same). That number is the percentage gain for just that month. This is a way to check the math using actual dollars. Namor took me to task over this and it took me a while to get it right. He had been keeping his own numbers using actual dollars and was calculating different results. I think we now have it figured out.
If you have questions about the calculation of the monthly Tally, post it here. If I don't answer in a couple days send me a PM cause I missed it. I don't get to check this board nearly as often as I'd like some weeks.
