MGM Resorts to close Las Vegas casinos on Monday 'until further notice'
MGM Resorts International said Sunday that it will close its Las Vegas casino operations starting March 16 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by its hotel operations, "until further notice." Earlier, the casino operator said it was closing its MGM National Harbor casino in Maryland by midnight. MGM said at this time, it will not be taking reservations for arrivals prior to May 1. "Despite our commitment to dedicating additional resources for cleaning and promoting good health, while making difficult decisions to close certain aspects of our operations, it is now apparent that this is a public health crisis that requires major collective action if we are to slow its progression," the company said in a statement. The stock has lost 53.1% over the past three months through Friday, while the S&P 500 has shed 14.5%.
