Many Americans face big tax bills on 2021 unemployment benefits

Taxes weren't collected on about 60% of all unemployment benefits issued in 2021. Recipients may owe money or get a smaller refund this tax season.

Another doozy is hitting folks this year as well. My significant other - who is currently associating with me as a womyn - is starting a career as a tax accountant.

LOTS of folks are paying HUGE capital gains taxes for 2021 on brokerage accounts. LOTS. And, they did not sell a single share - however, their brokerage/fund did. Now, most have to sell shares in a down market to merely pay the taxes accumulated during an up market.
