No true barn burning method to my madness. I tend to stay pretty diversified and make some moves when the price is right. This is my first post here with a portfolio that is currently up 7.95 for the year --->

G 15%
C 35%
S 25%
I 25%

Back on dry land for awhile so time to see how some of you have managed 14%+ gains so far in '07!

How do you calculate your investment returns? Money, or Quicken, or something else? Welcome and good investing.

Cob 7-9-07

I 50%
S 50%

Welcome. Don't forget to start a "Long651 Account" thread in the "Members' Accounts (no chat)" forum above this one if you want to be tracked. This "Long651's Account Talk" thread in the Member's Account Talk" forum is for discussing your moves/allocation (or for just about anything else you want to talk about.) The "Members' Accounts (no chat)" is exclusively for your actual allocation, like you've posted above, for tracking.
Good Luck.

Qibovin,

Our new web buddy is still in his probationary period. He must hit the required number of post before requesting a thread in the tracking thread.

Good luck, long651. I see you have had a decent gain for the year. Keep up the good work.

PM "EWGuy" when you hit the majic number. (I think it's 25 post)

Thanks for the welcome and the details all.

After reading what others are doing this morning I am feeling awfully contrarian today. My signs say International is still on sale and Interest rates aren't tweaking my panic button "yet".

So we will see what happens. Good luck all...

Welcome to TSPTalk Long651. This site is full of information, and helpful members, that will help you along in your TSP account and in many financial aspects of investing.

Ocean is working on the next generation automatic tracker, whereby each member enters their own IFT into a Web based form. I’m still running the weekly tracker until such time that the new Auto Tracker is up and running. I enter the fund prices and each member's IFT into a Web form. When the fund prices and all IFTs are entered, I submit the data for entry into a MYSQL database. I then generate the TSPTalk spreadsheet calculator from this Web based database.

A member must first have a minimum of 25 posts to be eligible for an account thread and be in the weekly tracker. The eligible member must send a PM or email to me, or a moderator, to request an account be opened in their name.

FYI ...Ocean is handling the tracker now. Contact Ocean when you are good and ready to get tracked.

Check out the rules here.

Good Luck Long!

Man you would think this was a paid membership site with all of the personal attention and assistance I received today :)

Thanks for making me feel at home and making sure I have a grasp on everything there is to offer here.

I would love to say more, but for now I have to get back to sticking pins in my bond yield voodoo doll....:D

long651,

The welcome wagon is usually more prompt than this. I see your first post was 6-16, you slipped under my radar. EWGuy was Johnny on the spot.

So again, welcome to our group.

...and you were as they say on the money. :suspicious:

It appears for yesterday the key statement from my thoughts was "awfully". :embarrest: But, its happened before and will happen again. Giving back gains sometimes doesn't bother me as long as I don't start making it a habit.

Now if you will excuse me I have to get back to my door-to-door now is the time to "build that new deck" and "buy that new dishwasher" you've been wanting campaign... :D

It's a guessing game. Sometimes we guess right, and sometimes wrong. The thing that convinced me was the string of 5 consecutive winners in the S-Fund...you just know that streak can't continue much longer. Plus the fact that Tuesdays have been biting us recently. Plus the fact that the S&P was near the top of its channel...therefore had to either make new highs or else drop to a lower level in the channel (and that was the path of least resistance).

Bah, no apology necessary. It's not like you said, "Nice move dumb, dumb!" (Which is what I told myself about noon yesterday by the way!)

I swung hard at a low and away curveball... but I am patient and will see that fastball right down the pipe soon enough.

So keep the comments coming as you see fit, and DON'T spill the iced tea ;)

Sorry, that wasn't a very nice welcome so please accept my apology. :embarrest: (Too much iced tea and caffeine for me.)

Just wanted to point out a few "potential" warning signs for future reference: long winning streaks due to end, days of the week currently out of favor, charts near the top of the channel. Also, be looking for a possible dead cat bounce within the next few days. Next time your contrarian play will probably work out, so hang in there! :)

And next time you can jump all over me when I wind up being in the wrong fund at the wrong time...which could happen as soon as this Friday! Now pass me the iced tea!

Well with the market steam rolling ahead this morning I was gonna make a move today but, work did not see fit to allow me time to do it. So I am still running 50I / 50S for Friday and hoping for the best.

Now we just need the market to hold this mornings gain for just a few more hours...

Sticking with my 50/50 S&I play for Monday. I still believe that International Stocks are on sale right now and with Smaller Stocks lagging behind the rest they are looking fairly cheap right now as well.

I am considering a move for Tuesday, but am waiting until how I see the rest of today plays out.
