i feel a rant coming on...
only thing i want to see is an open season on life insurance, last one was 1999 as far as i can tell. was too p-poor when i entered federal service to max out the coverage, now can only increase coverage with a "qualifying life event". well i sure don't want to get divorced again, and i'm not even thinking about getting married, no more kids on the horizon unless cheap chinese rubber break so i guess that's pretty thin odds.
as for health insurance, i don't care much, got to have it so i do the GEHA thing - cheapest option going, plus i can go to any provider because i'm in a 'medically under served' state. almost never go to the doctor, never hit my deductable, waste of money except for the catastrophic protection to prevent bankruptcy in my opinion.
I was raised without, and until working for the gubmint, never had health insurance or regular doctor visits. brush your teeth, eat and sleep well, and if you can walk and talk then you're not too sick, pain is a part of life, when you die you die, every day i wake up on this side of the grass is a good day, count your blessings and save your pennies.
as for national heath coverage for all? i say let's do it. get everyone the best coverage available, whatever the cost, for 'free'. things will get so out of hand so fast that it will have to change, hammer down until the wheels come off. no policticians seem to want to address the real problems until there is a clear emergency, and then it is too late, but at least it was somebody else's fault. so i guess what we need is an emergency.
insurance (auto or health) is a racket, and becoming a 'mandatory' profit center for the corporations. if the actuarials don't pencil out they will not write the policy, they leave the unprofitable stuff for the government (read taxpayers) to handle, look at AIG.
fear not. ultimately, wildfires are good for the forest.
want to know how i really feel?
