What is up with the L2010 fund? The Fund is made up from a combination of the G,C,S,I and F. How can this funds share price be well above the funds that make it up? This Fund is well in the 13+ level and the funds that make it up range from 12+ and LOWER. How can the fund be worth more then the funds that make it up?

I'm not going to be any help with your answer, however, I thought the
question was excellant and wanted to let you know. I'll be watch'n for
responses. This one might need to be answered by the TSP staff as it
eludes me too !

I guess an answer is NOT to be had. But the question posted
below does beg for an answer and leaves me saying; Idunno?

Since the G fund is about 65% of the L2010, that portion never lost any money but gained at the same rate as the G. In other words, 65% of L2010 gained instead of lost money every day. While the stock funds are down from 40% to nearly 50% for the past year, the L2010 is only down about 13%. Compare the returns on the charts below. I used January, 2009 because it was the most recent available on http://www.tsp.gov/ . I didn't try to do the math but it is likely that the G-fund gains offset the losses of the smaller stocks portions of the L2010. The F-fund also makes up over 6% of L2010 and it averaged over 2% gain for the past 12 months too.
