kodachrome is dead, long live...???

The last roll of kodachrome was produced. It is out moded and obsolete. So is everyone who ever experimented with it and had a SLR camera. What the hell are we going to do with all those slides?

I always liked this song anyway and enjoyed trying to be a photographer.

I have an AE-1 still, although I haven't used it in ten plus years.

My first 35mm was even before that- I had a Cannon FTb model (made in 1971). Inherited it from my Dad, and learned to compose shots on it, and even got my first darkroom, where I learned to develop my own B&W film.

Never learned how to do the color processes of the time. And Kodachrome was a special process that you couldn't do at home- they kept the chemical process a secret.

Color processing in the 70s was mainly C41 as shown on many kodacolor or fujifilm or whatever containers. If you were active duty in those days and on a larger installation there was a photo hobby shop. I think we may have developed kodachrome using C41 with a slight loss of color density. Maybe not, we may have used the C12 or C14 process. It was a long time ago and it was partially automated. Where I $ucked was printing the kodacolor. I found out I was somewhat color blind. Ever seen a blue-blue (I mean really blue) suguaro cactus? Looked OK to me. I gave it up about that time.
