BR - We've been having a lot of discussions on this board about the I fund. There have been questions which ticker symbol to follow, the effect the price of the dollar, as well as your question about when the various markets open and close. A lot of good disussions, unfortunately not as many hard core answers. Check the forums titled F Funf - tracking the F fund, Explain Please, and Why doesn't the I fund match...to check out some of the conversation

Tom - Today is another day when the EFA and the EFV are pretty divergent. Given all the variables we've discussed, when they are close it's impossible to figure out which one is more accurate, however when they diverge or are far apart, I think I'm noticing that the EFA is a better indicator. I'll keep watching it to the extent that I can stand to expend any more mental energy on it.

Wheels -
You are right. EFA down today and ^EFV up, yet looks like most international markets were down today. Thanks! I will update that symbol on the quotes.

Overseas markets were mostly lower, with London's FTSE 100 closing down 1.3% to 4398 and Germany's Xetra DAX losing 1.8% to 3827. In Asia, Japan's Nikkei gained 0.4% to 11,484, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 1.2% to 12,816.
