TGRMIKE, even better news! Yes EAFE was down 0.5% - true. But, the I fund remained the same without any loss from yesterday!

I noted the same thing. I believe the EAFE loss yesterday 4/20 was ~1.29%, but with no loss to I-fund share price. For a while, I've been watching the dollar movement against YEN, EURO & POUND with quick look at other EAFE constitutient currencies. Over the last few days, the dollar has been loosing value, including yesterday. I haven't determined a ratio, but it is the dollar movement is very significant. Noting this recent dollar loss trend save me an 18 cent loss in the S-fund yesterday, 4/20.

The best almost "real time" values I have found is at: http://www.weblinks247.com/exrate/exrate.html

I now have made a routine to include looking here to see where the dollar is, and seems to be heading, before I make an interfund transfer at close to 12 noon as possible.

I got the ~1.29%- number from the EAFE (I FUND) chart, 3rd chart from the right, above. I noted this loss at the end of the days trading, yesterday. The amounts are cleared for for todays trading. However, click on the 5-day and you should can estimate the ~1.29%- for yesterday.

That same percentage number, now green, reads ~.90%+ was ~1.29%-, then red, at the end of the yesterday's trading.

Additionally, the dollar is currenly moving up again the major EAFE currencies. I likely move out of I-Fund in the next few minutes.

I see it, (.05), under dollar converted.

I'm still puzzled. Yes, the chart you supplied recites a .05 loss. The EAFE chart I've been using is at the top of most TSPtalk screens, including the "post reply" screen I'm currently writing from. It is labeled:

iShares MSCI EAFE Index Fund (EFA)

Mouse-click 5d on the EAFE chart and take a look at the current EAFE (I fund) chart - it was in green at 1.74 (1.12%) at 12:56pm est 4/21. I used the figure that now indicates (1.12%).

That's the index to use ( http://www.msci.com/equity/index2.html). It's hard to tell during the day how it will end up, Yesterday I thought it would be up and it was down today looking at it for 21 Apr it appears it may end up down. See TSP info:

Participants have asked why, on some days, the change in the I Fund share price reported by the TSP does not match the change reported for the Morgan Stanley EAFE (Europe, Australasia, Far East) index, which the I Fund tracks. This happens when the Board's investment manager, Barclays Global Investors (BGI) reprices its EAFE Equity Index Fund, in which the TSP invests, after the close of the foreign markets. This process, known as "fair valuation," occurs when there are large U.S. market or currency movements between the time the foreign markets close and 4:00 p.m., eastern time, when BGI's share prices are determined. Fair valuation ensures that traders cannot "market time" the I Fund by making investment decisions based on the "stale" prices, thus diluting the returns of other participants who invest in the I Fund. Because the EAFE uses the foreign market closing prices to calculate its values, its price change will differ from the TSP's on those days.
