I've been talking with several of my Civil Affairs military friends- and this is what I can say-
the plan that you are now seeing - is the result of a LOT of long-term planning a long time ago- that the three Hurricanes in a row smacking Puerto Rico have caused the
plans that were on the shelf to be activated- in some respects for the very first time.
Yes, there is LOT is activity slowly getting into motion. And Yes, it is going MUCH BETTER than anybody anticipated it would.
Hear me out-
In a situation like what has happened in Puerto Rico, it's a MAJOR MAJOR disaster. Like MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR.
To the point that everybody pretty much knows that the next six months are going to be horrible for the island.
There is going to be diseases. There is going to be death. There is going to be huge damage that needs to be repaired.
But the amount of that death and disease and destruction is going to depend a great deal on how well we as a nation react to it.
There are already thousands of FEMA and Federal employees, including Title 10 and Title 32 military personnel, who are on the ground getting things going.
There are thousands more in the pipeline - for the first time, about 10,000 volunteers have been identified for the next wave of assistance. And those folks will start flowing in over the next three weeks.
And there will likely be an even bigger thirds wave of requests for assistance in another two or three weeks, to be activated about 40 days from now.
I am seeing a HUGE amount of activity to locate equipment and personnel, and get them in place. That is good.
How about where you are? Are you seeing the same kinds of things I am?
