Howdy from FL

Thanks for the direction!

It's funny you mentioned O'Neil's book. I just order the fourth edition on a recommendation from a friend. I'm halfway through Stan Weinstein's book and eager to learn more.

Thanks again, for all the inputs!

I would start by deciding if you want to look at fundamentals of the market, or technical analysis. The technicals would be charts and indicators, while the fundies are more about value.

William O'Neill has an old popular book out called, How to Make Money in Stocks, which actually considers both approaches, but it it geared more toward individual stock selection.

Otherwise, just hanging out here will help you absorb the day to day observations of the market, from many points of view.

Good luck!

Thank you, everyone!

Are there any starting points/threads you would recommend for a market neophyte?

Hey,
:) Welcome and try to benefit AsMuchAaPossible.
Follow the leaders, read as many posts as you can and try to follow their thinking, strategies & ideas. If you can’t then just follow the ones that you like at:
http://www.tsptalk.com/tracker/tsp_user_balance_all.php
Keep in mind the ones that do the best with the least moves per year are preferable?

Welcome tspcarl, look around the site and the returns on the Auto Tracker, some are doing much better than the others so it is possible. The Market is crazy now with the problems with the European Union, be careful out there.
Best of luck:D

Welcome tspcarl! Unfortunately, I'm not having much success this year either so I hope you can find wisdom from some of our bright members. :)

Hello all TSPers!

Not having much success going at this thrift savings business and looking to learn as much as I can. With this kind of market, I need all the wisdom from the sages on this forum. Appreciate any help.
