Based on your current distribution in your account, you sound like more of a buy and hold investor so you may not be making a lot of transfers. If that is the case, I would suggest keeping the "preset" and contribution allocations the same....In the meantime I'm trying to understand the difference between the allocation settings for my TSP deposits vs. my current allocations. Does that make sense?
I just moved my present allocations to 60% L2040, 20% S, 20% C. However, my contributions are still set to 60% I, 20% S, 20% C. It seems like it would be safest to set the contribution allocations to the F fund, or something low risk, until you can move the money into your present picks.
Thoughts?
Buy and holders need to keep adding to their positions to get the max dollar cost averaging going (buying more shares at lower prices, and fewer at higher prices).
If you decide to do more market timing, then it won't matter as much because your entire balance gets re-allocated each time you make a transfer.
