How do pink sheet stocks work

I'm hoping someone here can explain to me how these stocks work. My wife owns 75 shares of Telvue Corporation which trades under the symbol TEVE on the pink sheets. If you look up the price the quote is from February. She actually has a paper stock certificate from 1988. Her dad bought it for her under the state gifts to minors program. We got a letter from a stock transfer agent telling us that we must exchange the shares. I'm confused as to what that means. I think they want us to send them the certificate. Can anyone tell me what this means?

Thanks,
Paul

Is it a registered or bearer certificate? And since they went to the pink sheets the shares have changed as well. So you may need to get the proper documents. Be forewarned that they may not issue a "certificate" but list them in an account format.
