Grilled Spam thread

Yep! grew up eating SPAM. Took it for lunch on white bread (remember wonder bread). But I didn't care for mayo like JTH. ;) Preferred it fried. Taking it right out of the can was a little nasty with gelatin stuff it was packed in.

The three pack years ago also included membership in the Spam fan club. I just wish they hadn't used my pimary e-mail address. Not a lot of spam from Spam though.

JTH - could be somewhat disappointing but no where near the what I felt having a Twinkie after 40 years. I did hear they changed the filling but it was not at all satisfying. At least the spam on white bread was still tasty.

I'm sure KonaKathy will chime in soon on the subject, as SPAM is a traditional delicacy of Hawaii.

Pan fried spam on white bread with mayonnaise. Seldom enjoyed but always remembered tasting better than it really does. :)

I just grilled a spam sliced the long way. Nice and crispy. Should go well with the couscous, zuchini and asparugus leftovers. Ought to keep me going for the week including lunches.

I got a case of assorted Spam from my son and brother as a birthday gift in May. Time to start using it up as it expires some time in 2014. Yeah, Spam actually has a "best if used by" date. Couldn't find the "will make you really sick" or "will surely kill you" dates.

This Spam thing started out as a joke thing a few years ago with one can. Then a three pack, then a six pack, this year a case of assorted flavors. I am not a fan of the flavors. If I need hot sauce, I have many tiny bottles left over from my Y2K MREs that finally got used up. If I need cheese, garlic or black pepper; I'll put cheese etc. on it. If I need turkey, I'll buy turkey. If I need lite or low sodium...geez this is Spam. I eat it once every couple months.

I hope that I will keep receiving this bounty in the future, The way my TSP is going, that will be one month's food I don't have to worry about.
