glent's fund balance distribution

Hi all. I'm a civilian employee, HHS (IHS). 1st 6 years, 100% G fund, (kicking myself). I'll turn 70 in 7 years, 2025. I've changed my allocation to 100% L2030, (matches my expected date of retirement). After looking over the tsp website and various forums, etc, I'm considering moving to the L2050 in an effort to maximize returns. The L funds are attractive to me as an easy, low maintenance investment method.

What I'd like to know is;
Is the L2050 fund a good option for me to be a little more aggressive without too much risk compared to the L2030 and,
Do I transfer all of a percentage of my current G fund balance to the selected L fund?

Thanks in advance for your help.

This is not advice, but here's how you can decide for yourself:

https://www.tsp.gov/InvestmentFunds/FundPerformance/monthlyReturns.html

At the above link, you can compare how much each of the L funds has lost in one year, and how many total years have been losers, since inception.

Keep in mind that there is not much history there...and also that past performance is no guarantee of future results.

Also, using math/probabilities, you can take your results, and extrapolate them into the next ten years--again, not much original data to go on.

Also, you need to set a goal for what you are looking to support with your TSP investment. That combined with expected performance will shape your decision.
