Freedom of Expression

WHY DID THE CHICKEN CROSS THE ROAD?

BARACK OBAMA:
The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a CHANGE! The chicken wanted CHANGE!

JOHN McCAIN:
My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

HILLARY CLINTON:
When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure – right from Day One! -- that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't about me.......

DR. PHIL:
The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he must first deal with the problem on 'THIS' side of the road before it goes after the problem on the 'OTHER SIDE ' of t he road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he's acting by not taking on his 'CURRENT' problems before adding 'NEW' problems.

OPRAH:
Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens.

GEORGE W. BUSH:
We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here.

COLIN POWELL:
Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road...

ANDERSON COOPER - CNN:
We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road.

JOHN KERRY:
Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against it.

NANCY GRACE:
That chicken crossed the road because he's GUILTY! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks.

PAT BUCHANAN:
To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American.

MARTHA STEWART:
No one called me to warn me which way that chicken was going. I had a standing order at the Farmer's Market to sell my eggs when the price dropped to a certain level. No little bird gave me any insider information.

DR SEUSS:
Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY:
To die in the rain. Alone.

JERRY FALWELL:
Because the chicken was gay! Can't you people see the plain truth? That's why they call it the 'other side.' Yes, my friends, that chicken is gay. And if you eat that chicken, you will become gay too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media white washes with seemingly harmless phrases like 'the other side'. That chicken should not be crossing the road. It's as plain and as simple as that.

GRANDPA:
In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough.

BARBARA WALTERS:
Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it
experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its life long dream of crossing the road.

ARISTOTLE:
It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

JOHN LENNON:
Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads together, in peace.

BILL GATES:
I have just released eChicken2007, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your check book. Internet Explorer is an integral part of the Chicken. This new platform is much more stable and will never cra...#@&&^(C% ........ reboot.

ALBERT EINSTEIN:
Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken?

BILL CLINTON:
I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What is your definition of chicken?

AL GORE:
I invented the chicken!

COLONEL SANDERS:
Did I miss one?

DICK CHENEY:
Where's my gun?

AL SHARPTON:
Why are all the chickens white? We need some black chickens.

Since you brought up airport screening, I couldn't resist:
Nipple rings fall foul of airport check
Fri Mar 28, 2008 11:03am EDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A woman who claims she was ordered by federal airport screeners to remove her nipple rings with pliers demanded an apology from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration on Thursday.
Mandi Hamlin, 37, also called for an investigation into the February 24 incident in Lubbock, Texas, saying that snickering male agents violated TSA policy by forcing her to remove the jewelry.
"I felt surprised, embarrassed, humiliated, scared and angry," Hamlin told reporters at the offices of her Los Angeles attorney, Gloria Allred.
"This situation was totally out of control. I will not sit quietly. No one deserves to be treated this way."
The TSA, a unit of the Department of Homeland Security that was set up after the September 11 attacks on the United States in 2001, said it was investigating the incident but that agents were trained to search people with piercings in "sensitive areas" with dignity and respect.
"TSA is well aware of terrorists' interest in hiding dangerous items in sensitive areas of the body, therefore we have a duty to the American public to resolve any alarm we discover," the agency said in a written statement.
The TSA said incidents of female terrorists hiding explosives in "sensitive areas" were on the rise and provided a picture of a "bra bomb" that was used in training its agents.
Allred said the incident began when Hamlin, who has a number of piercings, set off a hand-held metal detector and told a TSA officer that her nipple rings were the problem.
A small group of TSA officers gathered around Hamlin, Allred said, and told her she would have to remove the jewelry from her nipples if she wanted to board her flight.
Hamlin went behind a curtain and removed one of her nipple piercings but could not budge the other, tearfully telling the officers it could not be taken out without pliers, Allred said.
"As Ms. Hamlin struggled to remove the piercing behind the curtain, she could hear a growing number of predominantly male TSA officers snickering in the background," the attorney said.
Allred said TSA policy called for a pat-down under such circumstances but did not require the piercings to be removed.

There was a picture of the offending body part with hardware but I deleted it.

Thanks Luv2Read

I'm not worried about getting slammed, but when my quotes are used in conjuction with pictures of Bush and WWII Germans, that just turn my stomic sour. But on the lighter side of things, I just don't see how any of this should be a story in the first place. I'd happily trade my rear bumper balls for a viable energy plan, a withdrawl of troops, a secure border, and not having to take my clothes off at the Airport...
Well, I want all of those things too.....but not at the expense of the first amendment. I'm not willing to trade any of my Constitutional rights in exchange for the government doing what it's supposed to do in the first place - all of which is in the Constitution, as well.

I find it somewhat humorous I’m getting quoted so much. I should have known better then to get involved in anything remotely political. I absolutely hate political threads and the divisiveness it causes among like-mind people.

If you want to believe driving is a right then God bless you and I wish I could say the government treated it as such. I’ll take it one step further and say I have a right to Keep and Bare Arms, but unfortunately it will be under the Federal and states conditions. But at what point does a right become a privilege? A privilege is a method the government uses as a tool to control you rights.

If I’m going to get slammed for thinking driving is privilege, then so be it. However I’m living in the reality that most if not all of our rights have already been dwindled down to privileges. Fact is most people just don’t know it yet…
If you feel like you are being slammed you are way too sensitive; however, I don't like to make anyone feel bad so I'll offer an apology.

The article isn't about DRIVING or the right to drive. It's about freedom of expression. It doesn't matter if the balls are hanging on your car or on your mailbox at the curb. You completely missed the point.

I do agree with you that the during the last 8 years sheeple have willingly given up far too many of our rights in the name of "security." We are paying the price already and I feel sorry for the next generation.

When you are given the privilege to drive, with that privilege you lose some of your rights for expression. In most countries you can’t wear a veil, hat or shades when your getting you driver’s license picture taken.

In most states if you’re driving you can’t express yourself with fancy flashing lights, neon bulbs installed under your car, loud blaring music, or offensive images such as pornography. Everywhere you go freedom of expression can be restrained.

The fact I think someone who displays a pair of balls on their rear bumper lacks “class”, is my opinion. No one hates political correctness more then I do. I had to put up with that crap under Pres Clinton and we are all still suffering the repercussions of it today.

Do I think they should ban it? No, but I also think people should have some decency and apparently parents today aren’t teaching that to their kids.
I don't recall signing away any of my first amendment rights when I signed my driver's license, nor was I told that was a requirement to obtain such license. This isn't "most countries." This is a country that was founded on a belief in individual freedoms. The things you describe are SAFETY HAZARDS, and if they aren't allowed, it's for that reason, not to supress any right to free expression.

I agree completely with your last statement. Things are a lot different than when I was growing up. Did our generation raise our kids wrong so that they aren't teaching their kids the same things we were taught?

... Just understand that having a vehicle is a PRIVILEGE and not a right and you should understand the difference between the two.

When I was young, I was taught that the freedom to travel in Ameica- including across state borders, was one of the inherent RIGHTS of people.

Now movement is viewed as a privilege?

Excuse me sir- MAY I ZEE YOUR PAPERS, PLEASE?

Do me a favor and save me the free speech lecture. Free speech stopped existing in this country the moment you weren’t allowed to yell fire in a public domain. Take your emotions out and re-read my statement. Not once did I advocate banning it. Just understand that having a vehicle is a PRIVILEGE and not a right and you should understand the difference between the two.
However, Free Speech, and freedom of expression are RIGHTS granted under the Constitution. It has nothing to do with driving or owning a vehicle or "class."

I think you missed the whole point of the article. Re-read it with an open mind instead of from the perspective of what you find personally offensive or politically correct.

Watch out! Them's fightin fonts!---Jim

I guess we need to change the first amendment to say that Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of speech, provided no one is offended by one's exercise of free speech and provided that such exercise of free speech does not lack class. Get real!
