WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Five U.S. soldiers in [COLOR=#366388 ! important][COLOR=#366388 ! important]Afghanistan's[/COLOR][/COLOR] Kandahar province have been charged with murdering three Afghan civilians, The Washington Post reported on Sunday.


In its early edition, the Post cited Army charging documents as saying the infantry personnel, including one staff Sergeant, murdered the civilians between January and May of this year.


The Post cited military court documents and interviews with people familiar with the case to allege the killings "were committed essentially for sport by soldiers who had a fondness for hashish and alcohol."

The point is to push your buttons. Mission accomplished. Yeah, there are some bad people out there even in the armed forces. Punish them and don't paint the entire US Army by their actions.

the people who did that 40 years ago learned that it got them bad press, so they are not going to do that this time.
 
I saw some of those clowns 40 years ago - now many of them are our current political leaders.

Geeze Buster- no, What's next isn't spitting on soldiers as they get off a plane.

It's a trial before a Military jury, under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, for a group of gentlemen (I use the term loosely) who have been charged with cold-blooded murder of civilians. If the charges are true, they have disgraced the uniform of MY ARMY.

It happens in war. And it's a fine job of justice to bring these guys to court. If what they are charge with is true, then they have no business disgracing the uniform of an American soldier.

They will have their day in court.
 
Yes they were wrong if they did this type of thing, but have you ever had your friends killed by a roadside bomb, the stress must be terrible. No excuse we can't condone that type of retaliation on the part of our servicemen regardless of how the other half of the war treats our people.:cool:
 
and.....? (I have my feelings obviously) We have murderers here in the states who get 3 squares a day/watch t.v/play dominoes/lift weights. China takes their drug dealers/smugglers out in a field and caps them in the back of the head, done and over, the usa? no...we put em up in the prison and feed em and give em a telivison and a weight set. B.S! Pass harsh laws and then start thinning society of the scum of the earth , HEY at least we'll all feel better.....

I can't help but to say I agree...Those scumbags living while their victims are pushing up daisies..it ain't right..

But these Soldiers were sworn to up hold all that is good about us Americans and our freedoms..what those few guys did was embarass the US in front of the World....It's no wonder we have such a hard time gaining any respect..People won't see them as the rotten apples, they will see them as an example of how everyone in America is...Nope, they should pay the price dearly as well...A Death sentence is about all I would offer them.

Jim you missed the point (again)..We don't need reminding of sh!t like this..You and your kind are ruining the pride of this country enough..you need not to bask in anymore America Bashing...we ALL have TV's and Radios and the interent..

I couldn't agree more Buster, these few rotten apples, give the ugly to the ugly American and to constantly bask in such rotten behavior by a few Americans by Jim is nothing more than showing his outright hatred of American. Ya notice he never points out the killing of innocents by others and we know why. :suspicious: But he has his own little crowd of American haters, but they don't realize or more than likely don't care what a bleak future they are wanting for their children, because they are genetically wired differently. I don't like to comment on stories like this because it sickens me to the core and disgraces all veterans. Will Americans look at me and equate me with those azzhats? Some will and that's what disturbs me, I take pride in my work and I'll be dammed if some uneducated gang bangers are going to tarnish the reputation of millions of veterans, both past & present.

This is why we should never lower our standards in the recruitment process. These types of events are directly related to the "character waivers" the ARMY started in order to bump up recruitment. Meanwhile during the same time frame the Air Force was raising its standards. Mind you I'm not saying we have better people, just less bad people.

As for James, he just likes to poke ant piles with sticks so he can sit back and enjoy the show...
 
Why the vitriol over independant pharmacists, though? And so far as I know, the spitting was mythological, never happened. Did you actually see it, Birchy? Or do you merely refer to those who looked and dressed like your idea of who they might've been?

Those that went to Nam were barely old enough to shave. When someone is shooting at you, you fire back and ask questions later. Then you discover they were younger than you. Most people think war is what they see in the movies.
 
They plucked me off the block. I and another were the only two in my basic training company who did NOT go to advanced infantry training, in 1971. I understand it from both sides. Nasa you are so right. Though a pacifist, I would have fired back, thinking to protect my buddies, a nice piece of self-deception. That murderous streak in human nature runs through me, too, and war would've brought it out.

Anyway, I meant apocryphal not mythological but the word would not come to my mind -- what's left of it.

NO, I'm not old enough to shave during the Nam.

I was just with EOD during the Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm/Desert Sabre.

I have 21 yrs with the gov't & 20 more years I'm still not eligible to receive social security benefit.:rolleyes:
