Extended deadline for IFTs?

Even though it is now better than years ago... the four hour wait is archaic at best in the C,S,and F funds. Maybe a wait for the I fund is more fair for all participants.
Why not realtime?
Why not let us roll over some of our money to a roth, so we can trade both the up and down market? We can't roll-over until separations.
Can you imagine if they let us trade realtime, there would be a lot of millionaires retiring from federal service.
The market makes way to many martini lunch movements after the cutoff.

The next logical step is for the TSP board to allow end of day transfers instead of a noon deadline. Crossing fingers!!

Now really! In what other business does the client really get to know the actual value of what they are buying at the precise time of buying it? What about the Heisenberg uncertainty principle?

Maybe you can try to make a minor change during that questionable period, like 100% G to 99% G, 1% F to see what happens.

I was afraid to try this today because if the (now arbitrary) "deadline" occurred during the moments while I was typing my change, the original IFT would "change" to include the new time, would now be late, and wouldn't process until tomorrow. I might try this someday when I don't actually intend to make a change.

Did anyone else notice what appeared to be a delay or extension of the previously very firm and precise 1200 EST deadline for IFTs. Today (31 January 2007) I keep checking back at the interfund transfer link on the TSP.gov site, especially when I post very close to the deadline, because I feel better that my IFT went through when I get the message that says something to the effect that "you have the following IFT set to process at COB 1/31 which can no longer be changed."

Today, very unusually, I keep getting the following message, as late now as 1220-something EST:

You have an interfund transfer request pending that should be effective as of close of business 01/31/2007. You may change or cancel this request until 12:00 noon, eastern time that day. (Only one request can be effective each day.)

I am afraid to actually click on either of the buttons below (Change or Cancel this Request) because I don't want to screw up my current request. I tried once to "Change" my IFT very close to the deadline, but when I missed the deadline with the change, my previously entered IFT (which would have been better than NO IFT that day) got delayed until the following day just as though I'd entered it after the deadline, when in fact my original IFT that day had been entered well in advance. Needless to say, I no longer mess with those options that close to the deadline unless I want to cancel altogether.

Anyway, this failure to get "closure" is a little disturbing to me, with memories of the New Years/Ford Remembrance fiasco still lingering. Is anyone else bothered by this or have any further insight?

Finally, at 1228 EST I got the following:
You have an interfund transfer being processed for 01/31/2007 which cannot be changed because the deadline for changing or cancelling it has passed. This transfer is not yet reflected in your account balance. Your account balance will be invested as follows:
