Did Obama Cause the Stock Slide? From Business Week

Thanks CB - my parents are in Baltimore, MD

And I never go through Huntington - but maybe someday, somewhere down the line we can get together...

at the Farm in Muddlety Valley.... or I may just swing by someday

From my mom, "Oh don't be silly, I'm paying for it" :)

Well have a good one dude

Just PM me when you head in that direction, cause who knows, I may be headed towards Columbus at that time. :D

If ya come thru Huntington Steady, let me know and I'll buy ya lunch or a cup of coffee. :D

Eagle,
Mom is 90 years old and told my daughter recently she misses us so much. Said she mainly lives for the family reunion in WV this August so she can see us again. She has always been the kind of person that would give you everything she had and do without and bonds like that are extremely rare.

This was such a thoughtful message - it really speaks volumes for you

I'm sure that must have been very hard CB

I'm going to try to spend the week of 3/23 with my parents.

It's amazing because my wife asked me if I wanted to try to take off during Carrie's Spring break and spend the week with my parents.

I was floored... even asked her why she'd do that?

She'd like 'What do you mean'

And I told her that's like saying YES to me asking you to marry me. I mean that's like MEGA MEGA LOVE and COMITTMENT
So hopefully I'd be gone for a week - but I know it's a week I'd forever be glad I spent with them.

Well have a good weekend ... I should be pretty tied up the rest of the day and since I'm in 100% watching the charts is no big deal.

Expression for today..'over yonder' :)

CB, I guess that you realize that every moment that you can spend with your Dad will be a moment that you can cherish forever.....my Dad passed away in January in the middle of the night in his sleep, 800 miles away, and although I made it up to see him whenever I could, I still wish I could of had *more*...ya know. Take care, we cannot solve the worlds ills, but we can make it a better place each and every day!!!!

Yeah Eagle Addict,

I know what ya mean, mom died last year and I wish I had spent more time with her. Thanks for the nice words and the reminder to make that extra effort to spend time with him.

An old friend of mine used to work at the base there last I heard from him. Worked on the F-16's as a matter of fact.

Hey SP nice to see you back, must have been another trip? I hope you enjoyed it.
Norman

Yep, another trip, marriage of one of my boys, and then huge changes at work... talk about your paradigm shift

I guess traveing in eastern europe gives me a little context in which to view the current situation. People who have very little have shown great hospitality and tremendous joy, even in the midst of the shadow of the Great Bear that would exert it power over them again. Maybe we've been living in a bubble for the last several decades and reality is rearing it's head.

I am also reflecting back on the terrible times we had when I lived in the Pacific Northwest in the 80's and the lumber mill I was working in closed it doors and we went through financial disaster. Yet, here I am...

Jesus is just alright with me...
Jesus is just alright, Oh Yeah...

or,

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me (as sung by Ethel Waters). :)

Steady,

I took off yesterday to be with dad, WWII vet, and he's just lost about what's going on and can't really understand how we got to where we were. To tell the truth it tore me up inside, plus he's all alone since Mom died last year. This is the hardest on his generation, because life has changes so fast for them.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. :D

Well the cat's finally out of the bag about me - and my real views.

CB,
My parents and most of my relatives are country folk - ya know the good ole people with high values and hard workers and the kind of people that really were meant to make this country what it's supposed to represent.

It's just going down the tubes more and more and it's sad because there are so many like 'us' that would love to turn it around.

Please know when I gave my life - in the Service - I did everything possible to do what I could. And in my life here I strive to do the best I can with every encounter.

But on the whole - that little piece of property that I call mine - is the best place on Earth. So I'm like you my friend, it's a place I really enjoy and a world I'm more content to be at peace with and pretty much stay put... than go elsewhere.

Steady,

You've given us brief insights to the real you several times, ya just had to look for them. ;) You just enjoy a good debate and looking at something from all sides. I also want it to turn around also, but I'm what will be left to pass on to our kids.

The WW II generation left us with hope and a chance to make something of ourselves but, I believe since JFK we've lost our way and the downhill fall of our country has accelerated exponentially and that's what's scary. :worried:

Hey Steady,

I loved the Left Behind Series and I feel the same way sometimes, that we're almost living it. One world gov't and domination. That's what I try to do when I get home to the farm, just enjoy and veg out. Maybe I'm a fatalist, I don't care about me, but I care about my daughter and I know you feel the same way. If it wasn't for work, I'd rarely come off the ridge. Just to go to the store and PO. :D I'm really a hermit, my wife has to drag me to visit folks.

I agree that this is much bigger than Obama, either Bush or Clinton and Carter. I also beleive this is different than just another economic cycle. The momentum towards a single global political and economic power is certain and gaining. However, this is not a point for despair, but rather for us to pause and contemplate our true priorities.

"Left Behind" offers some valid clues, I believe.

Sorry to have been gone so long... :)

Man it's great to have you back brother...

.....my sincerest love and admiration

Down the line I'm hoping others will wonder - how to do have peace when there is so much turmoil???

How can you be happy - with so much misery around you??

How it is no matter what.... you have a confidence that can not be shaken ??

I know not what the world holds... BUT I know who holds the world

Thanks for the response :D:D

I simply expressed what I knew a huge population would have said.

I read the 'LEFT BEHIND' series and that's what I see today man...

...so he's the perfect fit...so I can either buy into all the lies...

....or I can live in my own little world -- while it's still there and make the most of each day... try to chill and not get too absorped in the chaos around me. ..

CB,
Please know that I do this kind of stuff with my closest friends, kids, and even my wife at times. So be complimented by this and don't be bothered. ???????????????

When someone throws something out... I'm inclined to look from a different perspective - to see if maybe things aren't as they appear

NOW - let's address the question from the perspective 'Did Obama cause the Markets to slide' - Here we need only to reflect on where the Economy was when he took office. There is no doubt that he walked into the worst economic situation in our history and when everything was essentially going to hell. SO - no we can not blame this one individual man. That man is about the only one who strongly voted NO - against a war that has cost the U.S.A. well over 6 Trillion dollars.

SO NOW LET'S SEE WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE REALLY MAD ABOUT.

OBAMA MADE IT CLEAR THAT 'THE RICH' HAVE LARGELY BEEN SHELTERED FROM PAYING THEIR SHARE - that the U.S. Goverment has protected them and given them huge discounts.

They are mad - because Obama is determined that 'The Rich' are going to pay their fair share - and the 95% who have to struggle to survive are getting a break - by balancing the scales.

Looking at things from this perspective - perhaps we could say that not only is Obama NOT responsible for the SLIDE - but he is doing everything possible to make things right.
(WRONG!)

In 2006, the top 5% of U.S. taxpayers, those with gross annual incomes of at least $153,500, paid about 60% of all income tax collected. In contrast, the 50% of taxpayers with incomes under $32,000, paid less than 3% of the total taxes collected.

Taxpayers in the top 1%, those with incomes of $388,800 or more, paid almost 40% of all taxes collected.

The 40% of all federal taxes paid by the wealthiest 1% of Americans represents the highest percentage of all taxes they have paid since 1986. http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/incometaxandtheirs/a/taxburden06.htm

And, about that war he voted NO against,
In case you forgot what started that war...

The TRUTH is I believe Obama is way to smooth to BE REAL. NO ONE can be that GOOD. So to answer your question - NO I AM NOT SERIOUS -

I BELIEVE OBAMA is WAY MORE AFTER WORLD DOMINATION - WORLD ACCEPTANCE - AND WORLD POPULARITY AND SUPPORT

Amen brother. I thought maybe you were trying to provoke responses.;)
I just don't understand BHO's thought process. I consider myself conservative so maybe that is the reason.

Man, this market is brutal. I wanted to get out today....but I think I'll chance the jobs report for tomorrow.
