D-Day 2014

Everyone has the right to perceive art as they wish.

Warrenlm I have no idea what your link has to do with the subject.

that is a good one warrenlm. did you notice everybody left that room smiling and clapping? it is an old piece though, that performance.

i saw something like it back in the '80s. gal by the name of annie sprinkle used to do a 'public cervix announcement'. i had the pleasure of experiencing that art in a seedy club in salt lake city. yes, they have seedy clubs in salt lake city, trust me on this one. and folks left there smiling and clapping too.

now i don't speak french or anything, but i'm pretty sure that language is the same everywhere, universal.

Read lot's of stuff about this and the interpretive dance on other threads. Didn't want to clog up the other threads with my thoughts. I did want to keep my thoughts in the public domain.

Some thoughts posted about the MSNBC posting of the ceremony. The voice over was opinionated, not necessary and perhaps politically motivated. The many breaks they took were not necessary except for commercial purposes. I found other postings without the commentary and breaks. There is a voice over and I don't know if it is part of the dance or belongs to the presenter, CSPAN2. I heard no political commentary. Here are my thoughts which are worth absolutely nothing.

I watched the French dance about D-Day here with different voice overs and no commercials. DDay interpretive dance | Video | C-SPAN.org I don’t know if they are bad at choreography or were trying to represent the Wehrmacht in a bad light but I have seen films and they were better at marching and formations. The Bundeswher of the 70s would be about right for this. IMHO if you watch it without the MSNBC voice overs and breaks you will have different thoughts about it.

The dancers need lessons on everyone doing the same thing at the same time. Like marching and facing movements. I thought choreography was all about that. They were terrible, the marching looked like the ocean watching the waves.

Not sure how that bagpiper resurrected the dead but our CinC clapped so it must have been good. What flavor gum was he chewing? Nicorette?

Not sure why all allies are represented as wearing green and having a US style ammo belt. Brits, Canucks and Russkies should have had their own uniforms. Wonder what Putin thought about soldiers playing leap frog when the dance protrayed Russian contributions, link up and taking Berlin.

I was glad to hear that the vid I saw reported the end of the war with Japan factually and went on. I have no idea what MSNBC did with that as I haven't watched the whole thing as presented by them.
