You can try Point & Figure Charting by Thomas J. Dorsey. It's a bit different than a normal chart/graph but I do like those point & figure charts for intermediate and longer term charting. Very easy to read buy and sell signals.

A lot of stockcharts you have to buy, but some are free. You don't have to reinvent the wheel or spend a lot of money. Some are simple and others are mindboggling. Try out 1., 2.,and 3. below, and then see if you need more.

1. Go to: http://www.stockcharts.com
When on that site go to free chart, then to gallery view, then type in $SPX for the S&P 500. This will give you a daily view of the market from July to the present, and a weekly view of November 2003 to the present.

2. Any questions, topics, practices, etc, see: http://www.incrediblecharts.com
This site has a trading guide on the left side of the screen that you can scroll down for various topics i.e., moving averages, etc.

3. You can make up charts at yahoo by going to http://finance.yahoo.com and enter symbol i.e., ^SPX for the S&P 500 and experiment with the chart they provide via basic or technical analysis.

Thanks Spaf, Those sites will definitely come in handy. I need a book for now because I've been on this pc too muchand am getting a bad kink in my neck and shoulder.

Yes, watch those kinks. They are hard to work out of your system.

The first thing you have to figure out is if you are a swing, momentum or fundamental trader. I can tell you the gurufor the style/position you want to take on this matter. I have done serious study by paper trading with the different authors and can tell you which ones are worth the time and moneyto read their materials.

Best way to get rid of kink it to work the muscle. Wonder what the best exercise for the neck muscle is? Something with a bobing motion is a great start.

Like listening to a good song and bob your neck :P.
