What's your call, Bullish or Bearish for January 2006?

A repeat of 2005 or back to the trend of being the best month to buy into stocks?

Bullish for me................:^ Not wait, bearish.............:^ No wait.......... :* :P

But seriously, I expect the big boys to start buying up after the first. I'm sure they were hoping the little guys and girls would run with their tail between their legs so they could buy lower. Some did, but some didn't. :!

Bearish at least the first half of January. I think it may have allready started. Where is this end of the year santa run???

Random thoughts...

End of the year has a lot of deposits into accounts without true appreciation in the value of stocks. January most likely will show a correction, that is healthy for the long run. I feel bearish forearly span ofJanuary,1/1 to1/20. After that, the bullswill run until May or June, with small adjustments. I think that International funds will perform better than US funds, but I agree with Tom's suggestion that we will have a good year for the C fund.

I'm sure some of those who were on the board last year can attest to the fact that we Bulls expected a big rally following Christmas and the election; bottom line....we lost most everything gained in Nov and Dec. I will approach 2006 with caution!

Key word is "expected". Everyone expected the market to continue up last Jan. and it didn't. This year everyone expected a "Santa rally", didn't happen. Now everyone expects a Jan. pullback, hmmmm...........

I'll be staying in, albiet with a short leash. Of course that could all change tomorrow.

Good luck,

Even today can't make up it's mind! Up, down, up, down...well, you get the idea. I just want to end this week/year with a tiny green color to recoup Tuesday's losses. A few pennies in S and C would be appreciated since I didn't have the good sense to jump on the I bandwagon:?

Century...that's an obscure reference...my mother and then my first girlfriend went there when it was still Lakewood CC. (Disparagingly called "Driftwood" back in the day) I used to hang out in the library and gym a lot while my mother was in classes. White Bear is a boring but very beautiful suburb. Love to walk around the lakes and watch the red wing blackbirds flying around the cattails, and the egrets, herons, and all the other birds and critters. WBL was known as a resort town until the early 20th century.

When I was there it was Northeast Technical College 917 or something like that.

I can agree with you about that; White Bear Lake was a nice community back then; I found a place to live in South St. Paul and commuted back and forth to classes back then, around the late 80's very early 90's. South St. Paul wasn't the best part of town.

I have some good memories of the area, i.e., the Twin Cities. It's a nice place to live.

Recreation facilities are very good as well. Ice skating is all over the place and very big there. Some of the rinks there weren't fancy, but I believe I remember the Aldrich area which was very nicely done.I had a gas horseback riding as well, not afar drive outside of town.

On the negative side was the ice fishing. I can't see the fun of fishing in a hooch on an ice covered lake. I thought my buddy at the time was crazy to be driving his van over the frozen surface; I was afraid we'd run over a freaking ice fishing hole and have trouble.

I taught weather101 at Lakewood in 1984. Lived in St Paul South (not South St Paul) -- Cherokee Hts. Worked at the Ag Dept on Plato Blvd next to Group Health right next to the bluff. I liked St Paul.
