Hello, All !

Any cigar smokers out there ?

Looking for recommendations for good "beginner" cigars...

Our annual "retreat" with our Friends is coming in mid-June...one tradition is "Cigar Night"...we each select a cigar to bring (rule is < $10 per stick), and share with the others...a neat way to try cigars you may not have ever had (or heard of !) before !

In the past, I brought a CLE Connecticut 11 that was really liked by all !!! (recommended by my local cigar store)

This year, I picked out 2 potential ones to try...an "Oliva Series G Torpedo" and a "Padron 3000 Natural"...Both pretty darn tasty !!! :D

Any suggestions on other ones to look for, and try ???

I don't smoke Cigars but I like the smell! Especially before they are lit, that tobacco smell is excellent when you drag it under your nose!.

The smell before and during smoking is awesome ! It's the next early morning smell of the ash and butt that were left, that's not so good !!! According to my Wife...

Try the Oliva V series one of the best cigars made, its always rated high. I like the 5 Vegas brand its inexpensive and never harsh, if you want something different try Acid brand cigars they are infused with different floral scents.

Rocky Patel! Good price point, high quality and a bunch of different options. I love the sungrown, but that may be a bit too strong for a 'beginner'. I would recommend a decade or the Connecticut.

Why start at the beginning? Why not just get yourself some Cohibas and be done with it? At their price point, you'd be smoking less of them and your wife would be happier...win, win.

I smoke a Padron 1964 anniversary almost daily for the past 10+ years. IMO the pardon 3000 series is horrible and very harsh. For a good crowd pleaser try Acid blondie which are infused. Another old favorite are onyx reserve. I've tried just about everything including real Cubans on various trips and nothing beats the Padron 64. Sell a few ETF's and get the 64's

Hit the local place today !!! Bought an Oliva Series V Churchill ($8.25) and an Acid Blondie Belicoso ($7)...will try them over the next few days, along with a shot of my rapidly diminishing Angel's Envy Rye !!! :D

The third one was a CAO Gold Corona...some CAO brands are recommended on-line, as good "beginner cigars"...just looked good !!!

Update to our recent "Cigar Night" results :

I tried the Oliva Series V, the A Fuente Grand Reserve Double Chateau, and the Acid Blondie Belicoso, as recommended by you people...liked the Oliva and A Fuente ; hated the Acid ! Reminded me of the "Swisher Sweets" we used to buy in high school !!

Anyway, I ended up bringing the CAO Gold Corona ; we also had an A Fuente "New World" something-or-other, and an Ashton Reserve something-or-other... I took notes, but I can't find them now...perhaps due to the concurrent rye and bourbon poll that was going on at the same time ! :D

A very successful sampling....I think the consensus was, we all liked all 3 !!! No clunkers in the bunch... My personal favorite was the CAO, although I may have been biased, because I brought it...

Thanks to all for your input !!!
