Are Internet Explorer users dumb? ;P

I would imagine reading Dumb topics such as this one, would also lower your IQ

That about sums it all up nicely. This is one of those "who gives a hoot" studies that at best is just plain meaningless. Sounds to me like slow news day material if you ask me. Right up there with the Paris Hilton accidental:sick: beaver shots and Michael Jackson's "misunderstood" sexual tendencies.

I am definitely a Dumberer IE abuser.

I think I probably forgot to click that final 'Execute IFT' button on Thursday. So I am hanging loose with an All In allocation!!!

Never hear of IFTs taking more than a day to settle. I'm going to give it to COB tomorrow.

And, then I'll move to FireFox.

Smarterer:D

What I want to see is a Are AOL Users dumb article.

We got out of AOL and moved to Earthlink years and years ago, I guess it was 1998. AOL is the worst thing you could put in a computer back then anyway. If IE users are stupid, AOL users must be sub-moronic. :p

Oh BTW, this post was posted using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.17 (I know a good browser when I see one)

Not dumb necessarily but a much wider cross section of computer users. After all it comes with your operating system and works pretty well. Face it. Microsoft pretty much rules the PC world. (personal computer, not that other thing)

Most of the mac users I know believe they need no anti virus software as the OS is immune. (not) Nearly all the viruses that visit my house come from one typhoid Mary friend of my wife's who uses apple. She claims OSX is impervious and Safari is tha bomb. If we have problems with anything she sends us it is because we are bowing down to the established corporate entity and it is not her fault. I have no idea what her IQ is.

IE is the default browser of so many users that it is a broader slice of the general public. To use anything else you'd have to 1) know there are alternatives and why they might be better, and 2) Know how to acquire and install the new browser.

I would say that users of Firefox are definitely more computer savvy as a group, since it is geared toward programmers. It has tons of add ons to help programmers debug website code.

So yes, I would agree with the study. By the way, although I use FF at times, I still use IE as my main browser. :D

A CNNTech article asks "Are Internet Explorer users dumb?"

"Are users of other Web browsers smarter than the people who use Microsoft's Internet Explorer?

A new survey doesn't quite say so. But it sure as heck suggests it.

The survey by AptiQuaint, a Vancouver-based Web consulting company, gave more than 100,000 participants an IQ test, while monitoring which browser they used to take the test.

The result? Internet Explorer users scored lower than average, while Chrome, Firefox and Safari users were slightly above average. And users of the more obscure Camino and Opera browsers, as well as those using Explorer with Chrome Frame (a plug-in designed to let users view emerging HTML5 content), had what AptiQuaint called "exceptionally higher" IQ levels.

Those numbers, it should be noted, probably aren't very scientific. The field of test-takers was self-selecting ....

Users of Internet Explorer 6, released in 2001, scored the lowest on the tests, at just over 80. Users of Opera, the Norway-based browser, scored the highest at well over 120....

IQ scores have a "population mean" of 100.

If this all smacks of a little good, old-fashioned Microsoft hate, the language the company uses in its report doesn't do much to downplay that....."Now that we have a statistical pattern on the continuous usage of incompatible browsers, better steps can be taken to eradicate this nuisance."

What do you think? Cheap shot or telling results? Let us know ...."

So. What do you think? (She asks with tongue firmly in cheek!)
