An Interesting Concert !

Tonight, the Wife and I went to a concert in the local town...the Wife got half-price tix, because her Beading Buddy's S.O. does the sound management for a young Kid, who was the opening act...

It was billed as a "Southern Rock Concert"...band members from old geezer bands, that made a name, back in the day !!!

The Kid did a GREAT set...hard to classify him as "Southern Rock", though...we couldn't figure out WHAT to call his music !! We liked it, though !!! What made me mad was the audience who ignored him, and yakked it up throughout his set ! Redneck Jerks...

OTOH, at the end of the concert, they pulled 2 people from the audience to join the combined band...not just to sing, but to play !!! They put an old geezer on drums, and a young woman on lead guitar...they did Guns and Roses "Sweet Child of Mine"...not exactly "Country", but man...that girl gave Slash a run for the money !!!

Does anyone else think Slash looks like "Cousin It" ???

A fun evening !!! :D

Yep....I really dislike paying to see a show and then seeing folks not watch the show, talking, etc ... Its rude. Same thing being at a restaurant and seeing half the table pulling out phones and texting, etc instead if interacting with people at the dinner table.

Went to San Antonio Friday night to a bar with live band.... And observed something unusual. Band had 3 singers. Lead male in middle planked by two young ladies in their late 20s. Both female singers had their mobile phones attached to their microphone stands so phone sat in mid air like a keyboard. One of them kept tapping her phone throughout the performance....even when she was doing the lead vocal on a song. This was extremely distracting, and it really took away from the performances when done. I did not see them wearing ear phones, nor was there a mixing board in sight.... I am quite curious as to what she was doing!

But they were really good and band was great! All three were extremely good singers. He sang first song, followed one female singer that sounded like Mariah Carey including a very rare whistle register....first time I've ever heard whistle register live. She only did it twice the entire night.

DBA,

I guess, technically, I spelled it wrong (pun intended !)....it's Cousin Itt"...but I'm glad you found the reference :D Dating ourselves, aren't we !

Perhaps the phones DID have something to do with the sound ? I know the guy who did the show sound was running all over the place, and was running it from his iPad...no stationary mixing board in sight
