American States Water raises dividend by 9.8%
American States Water Co. said Thursday that it was raising its quarterly dividend by 9.8%, to 33.5 cents a share from 30.5 cents. The utility company's new dividend will be payable Sept. 1 to shareholders of record on Aug. 17. Based on Wednesday's stock closing price of $79.87, the new annual dividend rate implies a dividend yield of 1.68%, compared with the implied yield for the S&P 500 of 1.75%. American States Water's stock, which was still inactive in premarket trading, has lost 7.8% year to date, while the S&P 500 has gained 0.9%.
