After Big Tech helped earnings look better, here comes Disney and Uber

Big Tech made corporate finance during the COVID-19 pandemic look a bit better, but we are still headed for the worst earnings season in more than a decade as the Walt Disney Co. prepares to discuss its financial performance.

Disney not so hot but understandable with shutdowns everywhere. They're really hanging their hat on Disney+ subscriptions. That will probably go up a buck or two soon now that they have 57M subscribers on a "convenient monthly auto-renew".

Disney has a hand in everything and is a good economic bellweather. Stock is initially up in the AH and will be a good earnings call to listen in on for future guidance.

CEO spent most the call talking about Disney+ and didn't touch on the park or travel situation at all beyond the obvious.

We will continue our international expansion with the launch of Disney+ in the Nordics, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Portugal in September and in Latin America this November.

So yeah that's success in today's world. Just develop something that keeps everyone staring at screens all day long.

And no call would be a call today without this. The CEO will probably be long gone before he has to answer to any progress on this one.

There's that economic bellweather again - Disney with a big beat after hours rings bullish for the entire US economy. Theme park beat expectations and so did streaming lead by ESPN+, subscriptions up 75% YoY.
