ACOR and other stuff

Remember about 3 months ago I asked about investing in a few different stocks...

Well, one I put on the list for my broker was ACOR.....I could have bought it on my trade day for about $2 per share.....I had read a lot about it, and felt strongly about what they were doing......well, it recently was up to about $17 or $19, I forget. My broker wouldn't buy it for me, so I didn't own it! He said he wouldn't buy anything below $4. I'm not too sick about it, cause I probably only would have bought 1000 shares. Wish I could have bought 10,000 shares!

I did buy ALNY for $12 though, and it has done really well.

Now here is some new research I've been doing, and I wonder what ya'll think. Some of you may know that individuals (not sure about other entities)who own enough stock in a company to be considered beneficial owners (not sure if that's 5 or 10%) are required to file a form 4 with the SEC when they acquire or dispose of stock in that company.

So, I started thinking, why not track what Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and people like that are doing.

I checked Warren....he's bought a lot of USG lately. Bill has bought a lot of COST and GBC.

It's real easy to check, now that the SEC has everything on line up to snuff.

What do ya'll think about following the gurus like this?

Okay, so you think it is a good idea to study the corporate filings.....I do too....because you not only have access to the 10Q's and 10K's, you have access to all the other good stuff too, like 8K's which report unusual events, and the proxy statements (DEF), that let you know what the officers/directors are up to......and all the forms 4 filed (I think individuals have to file that for any transactions (acquisitions or disposals, or grants, etc.) if they own 10% or more, or if they are an officer or director, or some other affiliation with the company.

Go to www.sec.gov - click on search company filings, then scroll down to search archived filings (because that's the easiest one to deal with) and click on that. Then type in the name of the company or individual, and select the year(s) you want to search. Hope I haven't left out any steps. If so, let me know.

Then let's talk some more. I need/want to make some big money.
