A couple questions...

Hi this is my first thread. I've actually been coming to this site for awhile now just never needed to post anything. I got a letter the other day that said the TSP was only going to let us change our funds 3 times a month now??? I think this is totally absurd, it is my money and I should be able to invest it how ever I want IMO. Anyway I'm pretty pissed off about that and I was thinking can I roll my TSP over into my roth IRA and not be penalized for it? I invest both in the TSP and with a broker and figure if I can't move my money around then I might as well invest it somewhere else. Would this be possible and if so do you think it would be wise? Thanks -

First, welcome to TSPTALK.COM.

We/ve been having a very lively debate here about the proposed trade limits. Read all the threads in that area- and don't forget to sign the petition against limts here:

http://tspshareholder.org

If you are currently employed, you are locked into keeping your money in the TSP until you retire or seperate. If you are retired, you can move it out to a Roth- however, that creates a taxable event, and you need to decide if you can live with the tax bite.

There are lots of threads already here discussing many of the same issues. Welcome aboard, and take an active part in the conversation. We're fighting back, and we're not going to take this without a fight.

Sorry guess I should have explained more. I'm still active duty "10 yrs" so I guess I'll just let what I have sit in there... I'll read the thread but I don't agree with someone just deciding to limit the trading. Would have been nice to know this 3 yrs ago... O well thank you for your help
