52 Week Challenge

I find it more difficult to save when I see what my bank account/retirement fund growing a lot. My brain screams ski trip or new toy. So, ever since I've joined the gov employee ranks i just set 10% tsp withdraw, a $100 additional withdrawl per paycheck to a seperate bank account than my main, and the rest to my main. Then, I just make due with what I have left. In the back of my mind I know im saving, but not having the daily reminder of the extra cash I have tucked away makes it so much easier to not want to splurge. I have a feeling it's this way for a lot of other people too!

It's amazing how we can honestly adjust our lifestyles to survive on so much less income. For me, the adjustment was dropping my premium cable and not going to Wendys every other day. Saved me over $100 per month, and i honestly don't miss it. Netflix is $7 per month compared to my old $90-100 cable, which i legitimately watched twice a week...maybe?
Really like this...separate account so you don't see it.

Using the chart below, see if you:
1. have the resources available to do this.
2. want to show someone how to save.

I would tailor it by age group.

Good Luck!
