26 or 27 contributions for 2016?

It depends on your agency and when you are actually paid. Not everyone is on the same biweekly schedule...to be sure you can check with HR or payroll person/department. Another option is to take your current LES & calculate the remaining pay periods & pay dates for this year.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Does PP26 / December 25th - January 07th count for 2016 or 2017? My first contribution for 2016 was PP25 / Dec 13, 2015, if that helps.

Thank you again.

It's when the paycheck actually gets paid, which is usually 2 weeks from date you submitted timesheet. If the official paydate will be in December, you are on safe ground, but if the official paydate will be anytime after Dec31, that counts as funds that went into your tsp in the new tax year. sounds like your pp 26 this year will not get paid until around 3d week January, 2 weeks after the end of the pp (Jan 7).

But since your pp25 for taxyear 2016 (started 12/13-ended 12/27?) probably had official paydate around earlymid Jan2016, you probably had 26 pp for tsp as of the end of pp 24 this year.
My pp 24 gets paid late December, paydate for pp 25 comes in early Jan. so 26 paydates in 2016 tax year for me, which started with pp 25, (end of payperiod late Dec 2015, official paydate in earlymid Jan 2016.)
