2013 Guess the Dow Contest

Two more days probably would have made me a contender - always a dollar short and a day early. I'm way out there again for 2014.

Not surprisingly, Birchtree's pick was higher than the actual number, but he was #2 and not very far off at all.

What is really amazing is that the Dow was at or near NiteFlyer's 16,530 guess several times, and within about 30 minutes before the close on Dec 31.

I have put the spreadsheet together for this....

Since it was closed in January, this will just be a status of where we are at....

Good luck to the last three reamining in the hunt (bar any catastrophical market condition!)

Just drop the DJ value in I1 to adjust the standings, although it should be quite clear where you're at now...

Sorry Rod, you DQ on a duplicate guess after WorkFE.

Tom,

This is totally unfair. It is SO much easier to estimate the EOY DOW when you have a whole week advantage on the rest of us suckers. I definitely could have figured it out last year.

By the way - yuk, yuk...

These late arriving chumps will probably overestimate the DOW because of the Boom Week!!!
LOL - this rally may have thrown some to be too bullish. :) And don't forget...

We will accept your guesses and revisions until...

I forgot to give a last call on Jan 8 and it looks like this thread got lost in the shuffle, so I will take guesses until about 5 PM ET today (Jan 11) and then close the thread.

Thanks!

Let's get started with the 2013 Guess the Dow Contest.

Guess the closing price of the Dow for Monday, Tuesday 31, 2013.

We will accept your guesses and revisions until COB on Tuesday January 8, 2013.

Guesses should in whole dollar amounts - no cents.

The winner will get some kind of TSP Talk prize.

Good luck!
