well, still getting interim payments, and no other information or booklet or counselor or explanation of benefits. I am still continuing to write a check to benefeds to pay for vision and dental insurance. Hopefully they figure out the backpay due all the way back to when I retired on...

    Anybody retire 12/31/2021 ? I did and feel like I'm adrift !

Well, finally got my first interim payment last week. Roughly 50 percent of what it should be for JAN thru end of APR. I have an online account now with OPM but no information on there yet, doesnt even show the interim payments. Also still have not received the packet or "booklet" or an assigned...

    Anybody retire 12/31/2021 ? I did and feel like I'm adrift !

Evilanne, ABC has had their phones shut off since 31 JAN. But at least they finally got around to doing a SF50, which was then sent to OPM. Took a huge tax hit on the VSIP and AL sellback. Also was under the impression it would be paid out at the higher JAN 2022 raise but it was not, it was...

    Anybody retire 12/31/2021 ? I did and feel like I'm adrift !

So an update. Recall I retired on 31 DEC. Got paid out the VSIP and AL two weeks ago. Still no pension but Friday I got my CSA card but no password. OPM wont answer the phone due to the backlog per the messages. I think the major problem with my case is at the Army Benefits Center since they are...

    Anybody retire 12/31/2021 ? I did and feel like I'm adrift !

Congrats bman ! congrats on the AL payout. I still have not heard a word on a counselor or anything. Im still getting an LES that basically says I on LWOP. Not Benefeds is after me to pay for my vision and dental insurance premiums since there is no "paycheck" deduction. Not fun right now with...

    Anybody retire 12/31/2021 ? I did and feel like I'm adrift !

Thanks for the encouragement and congrats ! I feel like I'm not retired until all this is sorted out and done correctly. I feel like I'm still working since I'm on hold all the time, tracking down the right people, asking why I get an LES that says I'm LWOP, but earning annual leave and sick...

Should Federal Retirees Take Medicare Part B?

I didnt opt for medicare part B. Part A is free and covers catastrophic. I'm happy with BC/BS and I always was surprised all the retirement seminars, nobody mentions pros and cons. I'm hearing more cons to part B for us with FEHB such as a lot of Docs dont like dealing with Medicare, and...

    Anybody retire 12/31/2021 ? I did and feel like I'm adrift !

So got a VSIP approved in late November, retirement package into ABC 1 DEC using both GRB online and snail mail. Haven't heard a word. Talked to them last week after 2 1/2 hours on hold and told they are extremely backlogged and dont expect a counselor to be assigned until FEB at the very...

    Thank you all!

I've been lurking for a number of years now, and I don't believe I ever posted before, primarily because I am overwhelmed by the knowledge all of you have which has taught me much and helped shape my investment decisions. I log on here daily, multiple times, and many of you it feels like I know...

FERS hired between 1984 and 1987

Im hearing you all say I'm covered for those 3 years, but everything I have read, or heard from HR people, who don't know much, is that I have a SCD and a Retirement (RCD) that aren't the same. and even the OPM calculator won't let me enter JUL 84 as my service entry date and very clearly posts...

FERS hired between 1984 and 1987

so what did you get for t hose 3 years as a CSRS offset? do you get those years of service to calculate the pension? Its still unclear for me if I retire with 35 years of SERVICE, will they use 32X or 35X the high three avg and 1.1%?

FERS hired between 1984 and 1987

Thanks nnuut. Been lurking for awhile and in the birch tree camp. Lol! James thanks. Don't know how many entered service during that time but I don't recall being afforded an opportunity to buy in once fers started and it would of only costed me a few hundred bucks vs thousands now

FERS hired between 1984 and 1987

Hi all, Been on the phone with G1, ABC, CHRA, numerous times. Searched the internet high and low and can't find the answer to my question that may impact anyone hired between 84 and 87. If you are one of those, recall there was no FERS at the time. No CSRS for us either. No retirement at all...

    Birchtree's Account Talk

I have put superglue on my hands and using my nose on a touch screen to type and staying 70/30 in S&I, and was optimistic as all get out reading your posts, but my dilemma is when do I bail and park that hard earned cash in G? I really want to retire in 3 more years, and I waited until the end...
