    FireWeatherMet Account Talk

Using 1st May IFT to lock in profits. We've retraced near 50% from the low on the indices, and that can be a stumbling block temporarily. FED announcement tomorrow likely to not talk much about rate cuts w/ Trumps acknowledgement today that "Tariffs will raise prices so buy less junk". There's...

    FireWeatherMet Account Talk

Hahaha, I was just munching popcorn and enjoying the back and forth. And enjoying watching stocks continuing to soar after getting back in a few days ago. I used to not stop talking politics....but use it now mostly to make rational decisions. Was on the G-Lillypad waiting for a...

I dunno about jobs...we're still at "Full Employment" and there are already several Million job vacancies in the US GOING UNFILLED. No one is gonna want to work $hitty manufacturing/assembly line work unless its heavily unionized with pay/benefits and thats not gonna happen. Trump is currently...

Leaving nearly 2 months of safety in G, and going 50% I, 25% C, 25% S COB Today. Despite Negative GDP....stocks already seem to have bottomed intraday and starting to move upward. Will stay nimble in May...but now FOMO starting to set in market-wide, could push stocks significantly higher.

Problem with IFTs on Monday morning

Always appreciated your hard work, in correcting daily IFT issues Tom, even when they were just 'Operator Error" on our parts.

    The Tariff Talk

You asked the purpose of Unions. 1) 10%-20% higher wages. 2) Unionized workers with no high school diploma have 300% the wealth of their nonunion peers. 2) Cadillac HC plans 3) Defined Pension Plans plus 401K plans 4) Better Job Security. With all those in place, making $20/hr may not be see...

    The Tariff Talk

You do realize that if we "reduce consumption" we "reduce our economy" ie weaken our economy. How would this lead to a better outcome...is my humble question?

    The Tariff Talk

I want to ask this group...WHAT DO YOU HOPE THE US ACHIEVES WITH THESE TARIFFS? The economic reasons make absolutely no sense to me. 1) If you feel other countries have a trade imbalance with the US: Many economists on various business news interviews have pointed out the reason the US has a...

    GDPNow GDP Estimates

Interesting that the latest GDP projection went up (ie not as negative) to -2.8% (was -3.7 percent yesterday). My "seat of pants" guess is the truth will end up being closer to the -3.7%.. Hopefully not worse than that.

    FireWeatherMet Account Talk

Regretting my premature move back into stocks this past Friday. Normally today would be looked at as a good "Buy In" opportunity...but given possible RIF's in the near future, have to play defense here and "Wealth Preservation"...so going back to 100% G COB Today. If Trump announces a sudden...

    GDPNow GDP Estimates

Yeah, add hundreds of thousands of instant job losses with upcoming RIF, and likely hundreds of thousands of home sales as a result....and there you go....Instant Recession.

    FireWeatherMet Account Talk

Well, after 6 straight down days, and the filling of a major open gap (below) on the S&P, figured this was as good a time as any to jump back in. Especially since its the last day of the month, and how weekends tend to have news reversals for the following week. Leaving 100% G and going 50% C...

An unfortunate slogan from 1970's, in reality the gov't for the most part, is there to help. Its the private sector bankers ,lawyers etc who are there to rip you off.

    FireWeatherMet Account Talk

With todays plunge based on AI fears, and AI being such a large percentage of market gains the past 2 years, I am inclined to lock in this months gains (6.48% before today, probably 5% by days end) and wait for this to settle out. The longer term still looks good IMHO, with the Fed poised to...

    rangerray's Account Talk

The Fed was always structured independently of the Executive Branch, other than being nominated by the President. And there's good reason for that. A President will likely always want rates to be as low as possible, while the Fed needs to manage the entire monetary system, and make sure we never...
