    The Tariff Talk

I remember 95-96, DoD only shut down for a couple of weeks. When they finally past budget to get everybody back to work, we got about 18" of snow that shut down the whole DC metro area...I called it Poetic Justice

Buyouts to nearly all federal workers?

We'll see what happens Monday but I don't think they can stop this. In talking to a former coworker who just got a new job, it sounds like more people are looking at the offer with Resign/Retire option (a few people retired probably wish they had delayed a few months). It sounds like they are...

    USA Spending .Gov

This looks like it is just one IDIQ contract, do you by chance have the contract number or agency? It could be this one https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_IDV_68HERH19D0025_6800 but couldn't find this one in sam.gov There are many more purchase orders and contracts awarded to politico see...

Buyouts to nearly all federal workers?

I don't think changing jobs will impact you if you are a permanent career employee but that may depend on the agency you are with. It is hard to fire federal workers so I think they are trying to encourage people to leave voluntarily. If they can't get folks to leave voluntarily, then you have...

Are the Transports a tell? UPS meltdown

The earning per share beat estimates but the agreement reducing Amazon business (less profitable part of business) and proposed changes to boost long-term profitability don't seem all that bad but projected earnings of $89M vs expected $95M is 6.32% less so 14% drop seem like a little excessive.

Buyouts to nearly all federal workers?

A interesting link about 3 deep from LnkedIn post above: https://federalnewsnetwork.com/commentary/2025/01/new-appointees-dont-lose-your-10x-federal-employees/ "New appointees: Don’t lose your 10x federal employees" From the LinkedIn I found this interesting point "Most of the Federal gov is...

Buyouts to nearly all federal workers?

Has anyone actually gotten the email? I am not sure that if you "resign" whether or not you would be eligible for immediate retirement on Oct 1 2025 with all the benefits, pension & FEHB. Eight months severance sounds enticing (Definitely better than $40K VERA/VSIP) but how does that impact...

    New (R) proposals affecting TSP

They are already trying to get everyone pushed into Medicare. Retired military are already required to get Part B. Last year they were pushing Medicare Part D for FEHB retirees. Recently Postal workers are now required to enroll in Part B. Seems to be a pattern emerging AI:

    New (R) proposals affecting TSP

You have to remember that many of these have been proposed before and never passed. CSRS never had anything reduced after FERS was introduced. I think there would be too much legal issues trying to increase rates on existing employees, the increase in contributions was only for new employees...
