It appears that the dollar and currency moves are the primary drivers of equities at this point. Any TSP equity entry should be timed with a weakening of dollar strength.

Good analysis. Basically it is a game of wait and see if the dip gets bought. If not, then equities is not the place to be.

A crash in particular but also the fear that a screw up will result in a crash.

I agree. If fundamentals improve then the market will make money from increased earnings expectations. If things get worse, then the market will make money from Benny and QE2. The FED will eventually crush the bond market in order to get investors into riskier asset classes. Of course I am...

    Jobs Report

Any news that assures that QE2 is still in play is good news for equities. A terrific jobs report probably would lead to a sell off as equity players would fear that they would not be getting the free money they are expecting from Benny.

Bad NFP numbers are good for equities as it increases the likelihood of a full press QE2.

When the market is up the squawking on cnbs is unbearable. "What are you going to buy?" "How high can the market go?" or to a bearish guest after predicting doom and gloom- "So what are you buying?" Of course when the market is down you have "is this a good pullback to buy?" I would love a...

It may be useful to keep an eye on POMO activity as a gauge of the level of support the FED is providing under the equity market. On Oct 13 the NY FED will have a news release indicating whether another round of POMO will be provided, and if so, the scheduled dates of such activity.

I've been in 30% since around 1050 and am looking to add another 20 or 30% on the next dip opportunity. Since we have that awful noon EST deadline I probably will make the move on a day where we are down strong (90 or 100 on Dow) but not Oh ****! (180+) going into the deadline.

Correct me if I am wrong but your breakout rule is that if the market holds the breakout for three sessions then you will enter into more stock funds. As such, given that it has held for three days and you have until noon EST to make a move, your rule requires entry as long as SP1130 holds...

I went in 30% on Aug 27th so 1090 would actually be giving back about 1/2 my gains since then. If the mental stop is too tight you will invariably get knocked out only to see it run the other way over the next few weeks. On a macro level, nearly every government in the world is doing...

S&P 1130 is the line in the sand for an explosive breakout. But with TSP and associated limits, I think the best strategy is to enter 50% into this consolidation and have a mental exit of a break of 1090. Enter other 50% after after break of 1130 is confirmed.

It will be interesting to see if the S&P will find support around the 1090 to 1100 area. If so, then another attempt to breakthrough the 1125-1130 resistance level since June should be in the cards.
