Maxing out TSP, can I still contribute to a Vanguard Roth IRA?

Thanks, all, been a bit busy lately and unable to respond. The "accountant" is a big box store type that is generally frowned upon in the tax world. :) I started with them when I had to put our house up as a rental when we moved in 2009, and going to someone else just made it easier to manage my...

Maxing out TSP, can I still contribute to a Vanguard Roth IRA?

Thanks. Are you aware of any TSP/IRS literature that says as much that I can show accountant? They don’t seem to think I can contribute more after maxingmy employer plan.

Maxing out TSP, can I still contribute to a Vanguard Roth IRA?

Never found an answer to this, so we just contributed to spousal non-working traditional IRA. Got a rebate on taxes now, and we'll be in lower bracket @ retirement, so think this worked out for us.

Maxing out TSP, can I still contribute to a Vanguard Roth IRA?

As title says. I'm currently blessed that I can max out my TSP contribution. I have a little from a previous employer currently in a Vanguard Roth IRA as well. Can I also contribute to a ROTH up to the ROTH limits ($7K for me - over 50 and $6K for my non-working spouse) for a total going towards...

Find your new tax brackets under the final tax plan

Forgot to add: 2017, I itemized and my standard deduction + exemptions was $30K. 2018, I took standard $24K deduction and (there are) no exemptions.

Find your new tax brackets under the final tax plan

I stumbled across this Friday. I didn't reply yet as I had an appointment with my tax pro yesterday. This is my experience, comparing 2017 --> 2018. After filing 2017, my TP estimated my current settings would put my refund at about double ($2300 - $4500, roughly). My employer, in January, 2017...

felixthecat: How do you see the C and S fund current prices (e.g. "as of a couple minutes ago." I'd like to look at current prices before making changes, but haven't learned where to check them yet. Thanks.

    Different Ways to Calculate Rates

    Thanks for the information. I knew it didn't look right - that's why I started with the questions. Looking at my numbers again, I tried to follow method #3. A - 12/31/12 EOY balance B - 12/31/13 EOY balance C - contributions & match in 2013 D - 12/31/14 EOY balance E - contributions & match 2014...

    Different Ways to Calculate Rates

I thought I replied, but do not see it. It could very well be that I'm using incorrect numbers. I was using the 12 month PIP that TSP shows every ~3rd day of the month. Should I use something else or calculate a monthly return in a different manner?

    Different Ways to Calculate Rates

I have to question method 2 as being the most accurate, or even accurate at all. Here are the numbers from my 2014: Jan 1.1802 Feb 1.2445 Mar 1.2073 Apr 1.172 May 1.1918 Jun 1.2368 Jul 1.1408 Aug 1.1914 Sep 1.0848 Oct 1.074 Nov 1.0713 Dec 1.0338 (* all) 5.372357...

Post Your "12-Month Personal Rate of Return"

Y'all are doing great. My 2014 wasn't as good: Your Personal Investment Performance (PIP) for the past 12 months ending 12/31/2014 is 3.38%. But it sure beats a stick in the eye.

Question about IFTs, balances, calculations, and even premium services

An additional question: If I look at an annual statement from TSP, it shows beginning balance, contributions/additions, withdrawals/deductions, interfund transfers, investment gain/loss, and ending balance. It also shows "Your 1-Year Rate of Return". How do I use the figures that are...

Question about IFTs, balances, calculations, and even premium services

When I first started federal service (about 3.5 years ago), I moved to accept the job. As a result, a lot of my paperwork (account numbers/initial passwords) were sent to the old address. This put a few of my contributions into the G fund (or maybe it was the match?) before I was able to switch...

    FNG - chpwolf

Good evening. Stumbled around and found this site, figured I would sign up and see what I can learn with mild browsing. I am intrigued with much of the returns I have seen and am interested in learning more about the concepts. I have had a few curve balls that I have had to overcome...
